Smithsonian Magazine ^ | November 13, 2025 | Vanessa Armstrong

The American Revolution is shrouded in myth. But the war that created the United States was much more than the oft-told tales of the founding fathers. It was a bloody, gritty affair, a tragic civil war and a global conflict as much as it was a war for independence.

Interesting addition, Mercy Otis Warren.

I have a contract for a book out in mid-2026 called “American Biography” where I tell the story of America through the interlocking lives of 100 people from Plymouth to Trump.

Oh, and I am proud of my six-volume set by the great Allan Nevins “The Ordeal of the Union.” I had an autographed copy of “Lee’s Lieutenants” by Douglas Southall Freeman, and gave it away as a gift.

It's astonishing how many people don't know the difference between an ancestor and a descendant.
I've seen people on national television make that same mistake -- calling their ancestor a "descendent".

We descend from our ancestors.
They descended from their ancestors.
Our descendants are our children and grandchildren, etc.
We will (hopefully) become ancestors of our descendants.

Have a great day, FRiend.

Nixed any idea of watching this mess at that point in the article."

Agreed.

There's nothing I hate worse than being preached to by Leftists pretending to know something about my history.
They know nothing outside the borders of their own Leftist bull scheist.

I suspect though a lot of school districts will require their students to watch it, and will test them on it.
