The American Revolution is shrouded in myth. But the war that created the United States was much more than the oft-told tales of the founding fathers. It was a bloody, gritty affair, a tragic civil war and a global conflict as much as it was a war for independence.

Ken will explain to us that the real driving force of the American Revolution was strong noble black men.”
We will learn that Washington’s accurate name was “OG” Washington and Jefferson’s was “DJ” Jefferson.
in the south the war was a bloody civil war with many atrocities we would would call war crimes
I think “the Patriot” touched on that a bit.
“Andrew Jackson began his military career at the age of 13 when he joined the men and boys of his community to fight off the British at Hanging Rock during the last year of the American Revolution.”
By all means let’s be inclusive ...
“There was a little girl, Betsy Ambler, who was a character that we added in as we were making the film, because we thought, “Oh, we need a child’s voice.” ...
I enjoy watching Hillsdale courses free online , much more accurate.
Bloody, gritty, and tragic. Did he not see The Patriot?
Progressive historians who dominate most universities have taken an absolutist view of American history. At their core they beleive that the American revolution and the nation’s founding was morally flawed from the beginning since the noble sentiments of liberty, self determinaton and freedom did not apply to slaves, and that some of the leading founders held slaves. This biased perspective has not only made their scholarship second rate and flawed but they have innoculated their students with a hatred for their country. America is now weakened as many its people are no longer patriotic but consider themselves globalists.
Hillsdale rocks.
I detect a strong odor of Howard zinn on burn’s breath.
Lift ken’s skirt and I bet you find Howard stroking kens research and presentation.
So what you’re saying is Progressive historians are bigots. Just like all other Progressives.
The problem is whoever is giving license to these bigots.
“The Old Negro Space Program” (link to video)
A true classic. I had a link to it that quit working. Glad to have the new link.
Wow I did not know that
Amazing
Thanks
It really was our first Civil War. The noted Revolutionary Heel, David Fanning of NC, tried to burn my decedent’s house because my descendent was a Patriot.
Ken Burns goes click bait? Shameful !
LOL!!!
LOL! That’s fantastic!
Both of Ken Burns’ wives are white and he has two children from his first wife. He is mostly of colonial American ancestry and was raised in a nominally Episcopalian household. If he is a homosexual, he is, unusually for this day, still “in the closet”. Like many descendants of the colonial British settlers in the Northeast, Burns has accepted the liberal narrative entirely. Descendants of staunch Republicans and conservatives like Theodore Roosevelt and Hamilton Fish are now in the leftist camp, endorsing the likes of Obama and Biden.
I often say that New York City never lost the Tory taint.
No prob.
They won’t let you live here unless you know a little about ‘ol Andy. 😁
