A group of Rhode Island high school students are rallying in support of Charlie Kirk after a teacher mocked the conservative activist's assassination and called him 'garbage.'
Students at Barrington High School responded to the social studies teacher's callous September remarks by launching a Turning Point USA chapter to promote free speech and expression.
'What inspired me personally to start this Turning Point chapter was [what] the teacher at our school said after Charlie Kirk's death,' Brayden Ryan, vice president of the Turning Point USA chapter, told Fox News Digital.
'He made a TikTok about how he has no remorse over him and how he was a hateful person.'
The teacher, Benjamin Fillo, filmed the video shortly after Kirk's death, saying he had 'no sympathy' for the 31-year-old following his murder.
Fillo also described Kirk was a 'man who hated the LGBTQ community, women's rights, and democracy.'
'[Kirk] thought he was a big man because he went to college campuses and debated young college students and thought he proved how tough he was with his words that he studied ahead of time,' Fillo continued in the video.
He then slammed Kirk as 'garbage,' saying 'this is what happens.'
'Bye Charlie,' he concluded.
Fillo, whose LinkedIn profile says he has worked in the school district since 2010, was placed on administrative leave after the video sparked outrage in the community.
The Daily Mail reached out to Fillo and Turning Point USA for comment.

I’m proud of these students for standing up for Charlie. The only garbage I see is the left celebrating his death.
Many years ago decent people allowed leftist nutcases to take over education in the U.S. This is what we end up with. It should never have gotten to the point where filth like this is teaching our children. We failed in our duty to police what was being taught to children. While conservatives were busy trying to make a living the left was infiltrating the educational establishment with creeps like this.
Why do all our teachers seem to be from the far left?
Charlie was a good man God gave him a gift of drawing people to him, I NEVER missed Charlie’s podcast I can’t put my finger on why I enjoyed his show so much I was devastated by his assassination!! I was absolutely astonished by the sheer number of people that Charlie was able to touch their heart and souls really quite amazing for someone so young!! God gave him a gift and the left had to shut him down!! I really miss Charlie I am elated that the younger generation is picking up the torch moving Charlie’s goal forward, he would be so proud!!!
It’s way past time to marginalize the universities. Online interactive learning taught by private sector people for a fraction of the price of a university indoctrination is one option. There are plenty of very knowledgeable, real-world experienced people in our nation who would be happy to give periodic lectures to students via Zoom or similar mechanisms. They could be paid per lecture.
For example, there are probably many mechanical or electrical engineers from the private sector who could teach engineering - with real world experience backing their teaching. There are tons of other professions for which this would be true.
Teachers spouting this crap are making decent parents re-think educational options for their kids.
Don’t public schools get paid from some government entity so much money per student per day? Maybe when parents pull out enough kids there will be policies established re political statements by teachers.
I had no clue about my teachers’ politics.
Turning Point needs to cut ties with Tucker, though, to remain credible. Last I heard, he’s still highlighting their big December event.
It would be sad to see TP die, or go down a bad path, shortly after Charlie’s death, considering everything he did to create and sustain it.
The ‘60s. Prayer removed from school.
Just “on leave”? Not good enough.
And the National Education Association Rhode Island sued her for sending public records requests four years ago. That’s all you need to know about these teacher’s unions.
The teacher sounds like he’s extra fruity for that extra long haul.
Certainly something else
I noticed that there’s an X post regarding contact info for the school -
I imagine that they’ll be swamped with calls already
I think, additionally, apprenticeships work very well.
He looks like he could suck a golf ball through a garden hose…
