This is all so bizarre to me. My first facility as a new correctional officer in NY State’s prison system was in 1980. There was an older male hispanic inmate called “Angel” Perez...long hair, with hormone-induced breasts. He wasn’t allowed a bra, nor was he allowed to wear any female attire. He was treated like every other male in the prison, and did his time like the rest of the male population at the facility. He received no special treatment. If there were others like him in the State at the time, they were held at male facilities too. Why this became such an issue in this day and age, is beyond me. People like this were dealt with the logical way. You were born a man, whether you liked it or not, and you did your time as a man, in a male prison. This crap they’ve stirred up, has created more problems than it’s resolved.
