It surprises me that AI was able to capture the blandness and whine of modern, actual human voiced, country music.

What’s sad is, it’s an improvement.

Garth Brooks killed country music.

Rick Beato has been saying this for some time. He’s also pointed out that none of the hits of today are generated by actual “bands”. Just an artist and a few studio musicians, or increasingly, AI generated backing.

Same money but cheaper and less drama.

Yes! I don’t have the link in an easy place to get back to.

The fake album covers all looked old, as well.

I must admit some of them are pretty funny.

I liked the “Nips” song. And the “Company’s Dime” song. They are pretty catchy.

Or! You can use one of the online services that allow you to enter your lyrics, and then describe how you want the song to sound, and it’ll generate all the music as well.

One of my friends in Nashville does this for S&Gs. He likes making “country” songs with big multi-syllable words in them. Things that would never happen “in the wild”, and what comes out of the service that he uses is GOOD. Not always perfect, but usually “version 2” is. And it’s as good as what you hear on modern country radio. This is but the first step. I predict there will be LOTS more of these soon because as other commenters have said, Country as a genre is VERY VERY formulaic.

Better than any Luke Bryan song. Or Luke Perry or whatever his name is. Or that Australian dude.

Yes that’s what Rick Beato demonstrated. And the lyrics were scary good.

That’s why nobody going forward will have the reputation of being a great songwriter, because most likely their lyrics will be generated by AI.

Yep! Agreed. I was listening to the Rogan podcast the other day and he relayed a story from Ron “Tater Salad” White. Ron told Joe that he had been wrestling with finishing a joke for 6 months and was stuck. Ron says he asked “ChatGPT” to finish the joke for him, and it gave him 4 endings that Ron said was better than any joke he had ever written. And Ron says he’s sure that writing jokes is ALSO a dying skill.

Click tracks, computer generated drum tracks, MIDI synth and auto-tune have been in use for a long time. AI isn’t a big jump.
