Nalin Haley, the 24-year-old son of former US ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, has sparked a major debate with his comments on immigration and jobs in America. In an interview with UnHerd, he said the US should not only stop illegal immigration, but legal immigration too. His reason was the same as many Americans right now — young people, including his own friends, are struggling to find work.
Despite being from one of the most prominent Indian-origin families in US politics, Nalin took a hard line on immigration, including immigration from India. Nalin said the US should pause all kinds of immigration, even the legal kind. When the Indian-origin politician and GOP member, Vivek Ramaswamy, mentioned ending identity politics, Nalin replied online: “End H-1B visas.” These visas mostly go to highly skilled workers, especially from India.
“We don’t just stop illegal immigration,” Nalin Haley said during the interview. “I think we need to stop legal immigration.” He also said America should end all foreign aid until every American has access to jobs, healthcare, and stable living conditions.
The conversation comes at a time when Indian Americans are more visible in US politics than ever. But this rise has also attracted racist comments. Some far-right influencers have been making openly racist remarks about Indian Americans, including high-profile figures like Usha Vance.

The kid, unlike his mother, has a political future.
End H1-B Visas https://t.co/ThQEXgJIMp— Nalin Haley (@Nalin_Haley) November 3, 2025
And good for him, and hopefully us.
Just like Donald Trump who — unlike every other President in history — is supposed to stock his cabinet and his agencies with people who will "stand up to him" and "push back against him." By doing otherwise, he is a "dictator," a "king," a "fascist," an "autocrat," and a "Nazi."
Right on
The youngsters are starting to get it...
Her son sparked a major debate? Seriously? All his wants is to work along w/his friends. He wants to contribute to the place that gave him all his freedoms. Woke is pathetic.
The biggest problem is American workers have a poor education. I was a manger in several companies. I noticed that people who went to school in other countries were more capable of writing a business letter or performing well in situations requiring math than native Americans. This is a culture problem. Talk to the foreigners and they’ll tell you their parents were desperate for them to get an education. Talk to a teacher in an American school and he’ll tell you about a dozen policy and culture problems preventing kids from learning. We need to address that along with immigration.
Gonna be a tense Thanksgiving Day at Nimrata’s house
"‘people who hate America should get out’"
he certainly nailed it
I’ve seen that. When I retired from full time I thought I would teach EE\CS at a local small university. I was warned through every step of the interview process that I would be surprised at the low math education quality of the incoming freshmen and even sophomores. It was bad! The fruits of 50 - 60 years of a unionized K12 system! My grandfather was a school teacher\farmer product of the Normal School system (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Normal_schools_in_the_United_States). I have some of his reaching materials - math (really just arithmetic). It was beyond many of those students. I only did it for a year. Too depressing to continue!
Who knew, Nikki Haley’s kid has brains, good for him he’s right!
Looks like this apple fell FAR from the tree.
You aren’t wrong. I regularly get asked to judge essay contests for high school students in competition for a small scholarship our civic organization offers. The writing ability of the present generation is pathetic especially considering only the brightest enter the contest.
Nalin nails it!
Yes, and he make a MOST VALID POINT!
Oh horseshit. We have plenty of smart kids more than capable of filling every STEM job. STEM workers dont come from the ghetto.
Maybe he should run in the primary.
