It's fascinating that anti-semitism has skyrocketed since the Oct 7 massacre of Jews by Palestinians.
One might think that the horrific brutality would make a big chunk of people have negative feelings toward Palestinians. But no. The Palestinians performed horrific acts and they got all the sympathy. Jews were slaughtered, and the world decided to hate the Jews more than ever.
It's weird.
I will say that I have changed my mind about the slogan “Never Again” which came out after WWII and the Jewish Holocaust. I used to think it was a good slogan and a worthwhile goal. But I now think that it is important to acknowledge that people are irrevocably flawed. Never again? No. It will ALWAYS happen again. There is never any stopping it. We need to live in a world where terrible things happen. And the rise in anti-semitism I see all around is part of this: it prepares the field so that future atrocities can be carried out by people who will shrug and say “The Jews had it coming.”
I think decent people should try not to join that crowd.
It seems to have really taken off since Charlie Kirk’s murder.
