Our favorite criminologist, Gavin de Becker, has written a new book, and it’s as terrifying as it is controversial. It’s also laugh-out-loud funny, absolutely maddening, and guaranteed to make you wonder about who to trust in these incredibly uncertain times. The book is called Forbidden Facts, and in my life, I’ve never seen such a short book so thoroughly researched and footnoted. And for good reason. Forbidden Facts outlines a long list of undeniable but inconvenient truths about our medical profession, our pharmaceutical industry, and the reality of why the list of recommended vaccines has more than quadrupled in the last couple decades. Gavin is not an “anti-vaxxer” and goes to great lengths to prove it. But he is outraged by the way in which we’ve been deceived and manipulated by the institutions we rely on to tell us the truth, and he’s brought the receipts.
Again, every single page of this book contains QR codes that footnote every claim therein. The result is a stunning indictment of our strangely incurious media, Big Pharma, and an assortment of experts who continue to argue—even in the face of compelling evidence to the contrary—that the science has been settled.

Measles is an extremely contagious viral illness that spreads through the air when an infected person breathes, coughs, or sneezes. The best way to protect yourself and your family against measles is the safe and effective MMR vaccine.
Measles can cause serious health problems:

Diphtheria is a serious disease caused by a bacterium. This germ produces a poisonous substance or toxin which frequently causes heart and nerve problems. The case fatality rate is 5 percent to 10 percent, with higher case-fatality rates (up to 20 percent) in the very young and the elderly.
In the 1920’s, diphtheria was a major cause of illness and death for children in the U.S. In 1921, a total of 206,000 cases and 15,520 deaths were reported. With vaccine development in 1923, new cases of diphtheria began to fall in the U.S., until in 2001 only two cases were reported.
Although diphtheria is rare in the U.S., it appears that the bacteria continue to get passed among people. In 1996, 10 isolates of the bacteria were obtained from persons in an American Indian community in South Dakota, none of whom had classic diphtheria disease. There was one death reported in 2003 from clinical diphtheria in a 63 year old male who had never been vaccinated.
There are high rates of susceptibility among adults. Screening tests conducted since 1977 have shown that 41 percent to 84 percent of adults 60 and over lack protective levels of circulating antitoxin against diphtheria.
Although diphtheria is rare in the U.S., it is still a threat. Diphtheria is common in other parts of the world and with the increase in international travel, diphtheria and other infectious diseases are only a plane ride away. If we stopped immunization, the U.S. might experience a situation similar to the Newly Independent States of the former Soviet Union. With the breakdown of the public health services in this area, diphtheria epidemics began in 1990, fueled primarily by persons who were not properly vaccinated. From 1990-1999, more than 150,000 cases and 5,000 deaths were reported.
Before pertussis immunizations were available, nearly all children developed whooping cough. In the U.S., prior to pertussis immunization, between 150,000 and 260,000 cases of pertussis were reported each year, with up to 9,000 pertussis-related deaths.
Pertussis can be a severe illness, resulting in prolonged coughing spells that can last for many weeks. These spells can make it difficult for a person to eat, drink, and breathe. Because vomiting often occurs after a coughing spell, persons may lose weight and become dehydrated. In infants, it can also cause pneumonia and lead to brain damage, seizures, and mental retardation.
The newer pertussis vaccine (acellular or DTaP) has been available for use in the United States since 1991 and has been recommended for exclusive use since 1998. These vaccines are effective and associated with fewer mild and moderate adverse reactions when compared with the older (whole-cell DTP) vaccines.

The practice of administering several booster shots throughout a child’s life became common practice from about the mid-1970s onwards.”

Totally get your frustration with click-bait headlines. Like me, you probably are reluctant to click on videos as well. But.
Gavin de Becker is for reals. You can read a Kindle sample for free, and the sample is all about vaccines. Don’t pass up the read bc of clickbait frustrations on this on.
Off-topic (but only by a bit): A burn pit in Vietnam, and I’d guess the sand as well, are places where excrement is burned off bc better sewage capability cannot be found. In VN jet fuel was used to burn barrels in a pit for most of the day, every day in camps and compounds. Joe Biden said over the weekend that his son was quartered in a burn pit. You’d think he would have learned that term. BTW, smoke from burn pits can and do cause cancer and other ailments. de Becker addresses burn pits as well. And, yes, I bought the book but did not watch the vids.
Finally, de Becker’s master work is The Gift of Fear. I read it years ago and bought it at once for 3 daughters, wife, and son. I know of 3 instances where they report the book might have saved them from assault bc they knew how to respond to potential threats. Again, Gavin de Becker is the real deal.

When I was a kid everyone got the measles. Then you were immune. I don’t know of even one person who had a lasting side effect from childhood measles. They draw the drapes for the first week or so as you can get vision loss from too much !ight.
Adults are more at risk for the side effects of measles which is why its best if you get them in childhood.

The only legitimate risk to infants is birth from a mother with Hep B. Every mother who receives prenatal care is tested for Hep B. In spite of the this, Health Canada recommends Hep B vaccination for our infants. Some provinces (NB, NU, NT) administer Hep B vaccination on the first day of life.”

NOTE: My suspicion is that it is generally given too early in life. Probably should be given at birth if mother is Hep B positive and at age 10 or 11 if she was not. I’m not a doctor, merely a blogger. I recommend that pregnant moms consult their pre-natal doctor at their expense.

Good post. The chart says it all. Many of us had mumps, measles, chicken pox as kids with no lasting problems.
