Back in the 90's, they showed Jerry Rice eating a hot dog on the side line. John Madden (I think) said that Rice said he got his body fat below 5%, (I think), and it was too low.

There is one organ that is far, far more important than the sickness of a soccer player’s stomach skin. It’s his brain.

I really think so Jim because the players fall over at the slightest bump, with their best shocked face like Anerican Basketball. Back to you jim.

1986- i was 22YO, training for the Olympic Decathlon and i was 5.6% BF at 188lbs

2022- i was 59YO, training to stay skinny and i saw a really cute chick over by the body fat machine in the gym....i went over to rap with her as much anything else and she helped me through the process of how the dopey machine worked. I was 12.2% BF at 210lbs (which impressed both of us!!)

More “experts”??

I will never forget when the “experts” ‘updated’ the obesity parameters. After the ‘update’ Michael Jordan in his prime would have been classified as obese.

Articles like this remind me of Jackie Gleason: “The world is my oyster” he would say. Life is short, so enjoy.

Anything below about 8% is bad news for men.

10-11% has been my sweet spot for a long time. Have visible abs and low blood pressure but still enjoy a beer or three on an occasional weekend.

Professional cyclists used to show up for the grand tours (Giro d’Italia, Tour de France, & Vuelta a EspaƱa) about 6 or 8 pounds overweight because they couldn’t keep weight on in such a grueling event, even eating 8000 calories a day. By the end of the 1st week they’d be at about the ideal weight, by the beginning of the 3rd week they’d be underweight, and by the time they’d got to Paris they’d be gaunt.

But with more scientific nutrition, now they show up for the first day of competition at single digit body fat. They drop a couple of percent by the end but don’t look like escapees from Auschwitz any more, after cycling 2000+ miles in three weeks, riding an average of 5-6 hours a day @24-25 mph.

They’re still doped; peptides (primarily Aicar), ketones, microdosing EPO and who knows what else, but I don’t know how any of that affects keeping body weight, but Lance Pharmstrong’s dope doctor, Michele Ferrari, always said it’s better to lose weight than to gain power.
