I just spent 3 weeks in hospital here in Japan and borrowed my daughter's Windows 11 laptop to use . At home I have Windows 10 on my PC . Right away I noticed that there were absolutely zero ads when I watched something on Youtube whereas when I watch Youtube as soon as I click on something to watch it starts with an ad and is interrupted by ads during the video . I asked her if she has an ad blocker and she said she never watches Youtube so didn't know . What the heck could be the reason ? I'm a computer dummy so pardon my lack of knowledge re: computers .

Premium account. My kid somehow got one in college. I think students got a deal.
I started playing with the beta version of the DuckDuckGo browser - on the computer and my phone.
So far, so good....there were a couple site glitches but I reported them and they were fixed fast.
They have an option to use their player for YouTube vids but leave an option to go to YouTube or copy the YouTube link
i use brave and opera ... no you tube ads ...
I use edge also, “ublock” will eliminate all ads...and its free ! Just seek it out and use it...I have for years
Yeah, nothing you can do about embedded ads.

Adblocker Ultimate is your friend.
DDG search engine is as biased if not more so than google.
But if you don’t mind that it is a good option.
I pay the $15 a month for youtube Plus and it is worth it. I see no ads ever.
Pay the $15 a moth for Premium if you watch a lot. It is worth it. I never see any ads.
