Charlie was never “anti Israel”.

That said—he was getting a lot of pressure from his grass roots folks to be less pro Israel.

He was also getting pressure from donors to “hold the line” on the issue.

Charlie spoke out on several occasions—including in public— that he did not appreciate the pressure from his donors—and that he wanted a “big tent” that included folks who had differing views on Israel.
