Modern music is pretty much dead so it has to be hard to come up with new content. Also MTV didn’t start the video revolution. We owe that to as show on regular TV called “Friday Night Video’s”.
MTV started in 1981. Friday Night Videos started in 1983............

The proof that modern music is dead is in the absolute dominance of older music in public spaces. For instance, if you go to Home Depot, you will hear pop music from the 70s and 80s. I mention this because I was shopping there the other day and was noticing the music. Whoever curates their playlist has great taste.
