“...as opposed to the ball going towards him.”

YOu people amaze me. The ball bounces anywhere and hardly ever obliges the fielder by landing in his glove. I did see that happen once, but it usually has to be chased down.

The only way anyone can think this was legitimate was if the person is a Dodgers fan.

I detest the Dodgers. I detest the Yankees and any team that buries small market teams with ridiculous sums of money in salaries. I hope there’s a year long work stoppage until a salary cap/floor is instituted. Obstruction is obstruction. They learn this rule as kids. It was the correct call and the correct action by the player.

What might have happened had the ball not gotten wedged is irrelevant.

The only way anyone can think this was legitimate was if they read the dang rule.

This former little league umpire agrees.

And all it takes to be a GRD is the ball not rolling freely. It was a smart move by the fielder to put his arms up and ask for the ruling. It was a good call. If you don’t understand the way, this rule works you’re probably watching the wrong sports. Pickleball comes on ESPN 8 the Ocho

“...as opposed to play it off the wall with a predictable bounce, the runners were able to advance further.”

Predictable bounce. You must be kidding.

More predictable than getting lodged in the wall.

You must be joking right?

Tell me you've never played the game without telling me you've never played the game.

I support the Dodgers but Toronto got screwed on that call. The ball was easily playable.

I hate the Dodgers and the Blue Jays and the Umpires and it was the right call.

Slow news day btw.

Absolutely the right call. And it IS a slow news day, thank goodness.

I think we are being trolled. Always refer to post 12, it states the rule and the rule is the only matter to discuss.

Playable doesn’t matter. Had the dude grabbed the ball and not put up his arms, the umps STILL should have called dead ball. And had they not, replay review would have forced them to. A ball wedged in a fence, no matter how advantageous or disadvantageous, is a dead ball. Runners advance two bases from the time the ball was pitched.

Get this: Our cable provider cut out at the end of the top of the 9th. We missed it! (and my wife grew up in LA)

If the Series turns on that play, it's going to go down in history. My bet is that the rule will be reviewed. It was never meant to become a pretext for allowing the defense to limit the runners advancing by refusing to play the ball.

“ Ball was easily retrievable and playable”

Can’t know that until you try to pick it up.

“ How could it have been rigged, when there was literally a one in a billion chance the ball would be lodged like that?”

Yes. People are idiots.

Toronto should fix their fence.

“More predictable than getting lodged in the wall.”

It did not lodge in the wall. It was on the ground.

You are clearly outside of your mind. Only one thing left for you to do... Cry about tough titties.

In all of my years at this web forum, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bigger baby and poor loser as you, Joe, and that’s a notable accomplishment.
