Yes it’s a known thing that UCLA never had their own football stadium, to its detriment I think…it’s a shame there isn’t space to allocate for building one within walking distance.
SoFi is better and would be an update/upgrade to UCLA brand.
Rose Bowl is very dated with or without renovations…and much further away.
UCLA football is in a no-win situation.
The Rose Bowl is 26 miles away from the campus and even in good years, the stadium is rarely filled to capacity (except for USC). In lean years, barely 20000 people actually show up for most games.
If they move to So-Fi Stadium about 12 miles away, they’ll play in a stadium where they get third choice in scheduling.
There are no places or funds where they could build their own stadium on or near campus.
UCLA should be negotiating for BMO stadium, which has a capacity of twenty two thousand. They might actually fill that with the visiting crowd.
Doesn’t USC play at the Rose Bowl?
I sat at the Rose Bowl once. The seating is constricted and lousy.
Time for the Rose Bowl to upgrade.
