VP Vance was asked about Rep. Thomas Massie
X ^ | Oct 30 | JD VANCE

Q: Why is President Trump going after Thomas Massie?

JD VANCE: It's one thing to disagree with the party on an issue...voting against the party on *EVERY single issue*? Every time we've needed Thomas for a vote, he's been completely unwilling to provide it. That's why Trump turned his ire on Massie. We could never count on him for some of the most difficult votes. I say that as someone who knew Thomas well before I got into politics.

Not very convincing in my humble opinion. Massie takes an oath to the United States Constitution not the GOP (party)

Young Republicans are with Massie..

Someone in the comments asked the AI how many times Massie aligns with the party : 80-90% was the answer

So Vance is dead wrong with his comments and disingenuously making up nonsense

Disappointing

He’s wrong anyway and exaggerating it to try and justify it

I dont expect him to do much else because he’s a loyalist in that position

JD’s point was that if Massie isn’t there for 47/GOP on “clutch” votes it’s unrealistic for Massie to believe 47/GOP will be there for him for “clutch” primary.

He’s wildly exaggerating making this point the reality is it’s on one or two issues at most over the years

The one vote -and insistence it was a recorded vote - was on COVID and since then Trump has had it in for him

This is truth and it was 4/5 years ago now!

Based on FiveThirtyEight data, he did not vote in line with Trump’s position on major votes 36% of the time (96 out of 265 votes where Trump had a clear stance).

This was more often than almost any other Republican, and most instances involved Massie voting “no” on spending, defense, or foreign policy bills supported by GOP leadership and/or Trump.

Massie did not vote for BBB. i am sure he expects DJT to stand for his principles as he says he does. political reality. his fundraising has held up - is that Rs or outside $ supporting an anti-Trumper? any insight?

grok said 80-90% when I looked in the comments unless I dreamt it that sounds more plausible than a selective 36% 😂🙄which would put him in Democrat territory and he’s not a Democrat

Your just like Massie and Rand Paul, if someone does not agree with you the only way is your way, no other.

Intractable to the point of destroying good works for an unachievable perfect ideal.

Massie is a representative of his state, not the country, if he wants his “perfect” will implemented federally he needs to run for president, otherwise get with the achievable conservative’s majority.

Vance is not wrong here, but he’s aiming at the wrong target. A self-aggrandizing clown like Massie was NEVER on board for those votes. It only matters now because the GOP has alienated sizable groups of voters who have now turned many formerly Republican House districts from “red” to “blue.”

Embracing the Swamp to get rid of an outlier like Massie completely undermines the whole MAGA movement. The way to deal with the Massies and the MTGs in Congress is to expand a five-seat majority to a 25+ seat majority.
