Heartbreaking.
I can relate...but nothing to do with money etc. Fatherhood has always terrified me. I had a chitty childhood and I guess I wouldn’t risk a sequel. Just too much responsibility and too much potential for serious regrets. Single is Simple. Single is Safe. Single is Sane. Single is Predictable. And yes, single is cheaper.
shrugs. God gives man (and woman) moral agency or freewill.
‘There is a way that seems right to a man, whose end is death.’
Yes we can stay single, nothing wrong with that.
Trouble is when they stay “child free” by way of abortion.
This is the price for “Liberation” started in the 1960’s. Expressions like, “if it feels good, do it” and the entire “Me” generation and their offspring are now on steroids.
The early Baby Boomers had kids it seems and the late Boomers began to say, “What me worry”? Many born between 1955-1965 are now without kids. It is not just Gen. Z or X.
If your worldview is solely to increase pleasure for yourself, taking the path of least resistance, then you will enjoy yourself and abstain from some of life’s difficulties and challenges. In short you will not grow and mature.
We have a choice and those that abstain from having kids will not toss their genes forward one or two generations and the kids that they might have raised will never receive an education that encourages family and community.
We will be a nation of loners who are isolated and full of our own hubris. Pass the Prozac please...
My oldest daughter just had her first child, and plans to have another. My younger daughter is working on getting married and she wants to have children. But ALL of their friends ALL of their cousins, and ALL of our neighbors’ children are explicitly child free. It’s remarkable. I grew up in the Baby Boom, with a neighborhood full of kids. Now, it seems like almost no one wants to reproduce at all. Very self-focused.
It’s WAY TOO CHEAP to ‘Travel the World’ for ‘sophisticated’ young people (meaning White) to do. Everything is priced for 2 PEOPLE.
I remember the advertisements for places that were a 2 or 3 hour drive away from home...when I was growing up. That’s where people went - a short drive. The ‘burden’ of kids wasn’t much - you just had to arrange for a cot, or have them share the bed. Now, it’s Europe and Asia and at least a week, usually close to 2 weeks. Not too bad for couples...but the kids will miss the AWESOME educational opportunities provided by the Public Schools for that time...so best to not have kids.
One lonely stick figure on each of their car windows. Every day is a family reunion. Sad
Deep State’s war on the the healthy, happy, intact nuclear family continues apace.
And not just here.
See this all the time in my work.
These kids were TRAINED by schools and parents not to want children.
Trained to be good little white workers bees.
You have to teach children to care for and enjoy babies.
No day care.
Feminism ruined everything PERIOD. Men didn’t want this and we never really changed we have adapted but wish things weren’t so
It’s the economics. The problem is the necessity for DUAL income and unbridled LEGAL immigration suppressing wages. Babies are downstream from good economic times.
It’s happening all over the western world not just here. No one can count on being employed. The world is changing too fast. AI scares the bejeezuz out of too many of us. It’s the prospect of not being able to make it in this world.
” We openly leave hazards out. “
#1. Sovereign state counterfeit “marriage” (divorce ct.)
Exactly.
“Feminism ruined everything PERIOD. Men didn’t want this”
It’s true that Feminism was the impetus for the destruction of the decent social structure America used to have. That and evicting God from schools.
It probably also is true that men didn’t want this — at first. But from my perspective men quickly jumped on board that bandwagon.
When women forced themselves into the workplace it gave permission for men to not be as diligent when it came to providing for their families. Some became “worse than an infidel” and totally slacked off. Wifey was bringing home the bacon, too. Kids suffered.
Technology has created chaos in our lives.
Women entering the workforce to the level they did altered the traditional supply/demand equation for labor. It was a double whammy. Twice as many available employees meant lower wages, while twice as much (or at least significantly more) household income supported higher prices for everything. This eventually led to dual income households becoming necessary just to support an average standard of living, and the trap was complete.
Feminism has imposed huge costs on society, in many ways, not just financial.
Your last paragraph is BS.
