Putin announces Russia tested Poseidon nuclear torpedo, which can destroy cities with radioactive tsunamis: ‘Huge success’

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that his country’s military successfully tested a massive nuclear-torpedo dubbed the Poseidon capable of leveling coastal cities with 1,600-foot high radioactive tsunamis.

The despot, while enjoying tea with wounded Russian soldiers at a hospital in Moscow Wednesday, said the underwater bomb was launched from a submarine the day before and was a “huge success.”

“For the first time, we managed not only to launch it with a launch engine from a carrier submarine, but also to launch the nuclear power unit on which this device passed a certain amount of time,” Putin said.

“There is nothing like this.”

“This is a huge success,” Putin said, adding that the destructive power of the Poseidon surpasses the Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile, ominously known as the Satan II, which can carry 15 nuclear warheads.

“The Poseidon’s power significantly exceeds the power of even our most promising Sarmat intercontinental range missile,” Putin said.

Russia is going to throw a nuclear tantrum to get what it wants.

“Russia is going to throw a nuclear tantrum to get what it wants.”

Maybe. My guess is it’s just posturing. If Russia nukes someone, they will have more trouble than they can handle.

There has been talk of the Poseidon torpedo for years. I suppose the latest test is what is new.

Interesting phrasing suggests a micro nuclear power plant for the torpedo, much like the cruise missile described some few days ago. Extremely long range, and the fuel gets used up enroute and won’t contaminate.

Trump should say we had this in our nuclear arsenal 30 years ago.

Hilarious! And very wrong.

Pluto, our nuclear V-1, which the Germans had 80 years ago.
Russians are always re-discovering the wheel.
Nuke us, Vlad. We double-dog dare ya!

Not buying it. Waves hitting coastlines are too highly dependent upon the shape of the ocean bottom for an assertion like this to hold water.

Trouble is you can’t aim a 1600 foot tsunami.

It spews radioactivity out the exhaust.

But the nuclear warhead will, so what’s the point?

You don’t have to. Its like using a shotgun.

How big the tsunami is depends on how its detonated - will it simulate an uplift/downfall tsunami or a displacement tsunami?

The former creates a wave front tsunami that every one is familiar with, breaking as the sea bottom meets land; the later creates a standing wave tsunami that only breaks when it hits land taller than it is.

My point was that the the force of explosion moves out in concentric circles.

You should remember they have yet to have a successful Sarmat launch. **Every try** has detonated in the silo or just clear of the silo.

There is a reason we went solid fuel rocket so long ago....

NATO is waging de facto war on Russia ... we’re helping NATO..
Russia is prepping to wage war on NATO ...

We should resign from NATO and the UN.
Let’s stay out of another euro WW III.

My point was that the the force of explosion moves out in concentric circles.

That would simulate a uplift/downfall tsunami. Displacement tsunamis push up a water column equal to the amount of material ( or explosive power ) displaced.

One moves in concentric circles, the other is directional.
