Over 50,000 and growing Bear population in Japan. 80% black, 20% brown. No surprise.
“”From the bear’s actions, it appears to be a juvenile bear that has not yet perfected its hunting technique.””

Even Japan’s bears are skinnier than ours.
The dogs that hunt the smaller Japanese Asiatic bears there are called Akitas and this is one reason you should own one if you live there. And if you die first when owning one, they'll also wait for you at the train station for years until they die.

Makes sense to me. The bears that attack humans have mostly been killed off and the the offsprings of the ones left rarely attack humans.
Obviously, not being told the war was over, the bear mistook her for a US Marine and attacked. Upon realizing its error it broke off the attack.
There is a reason they killed off the last bear in the UK back in 400 AD... It was so that the bears wouldn’t eat them.
Eat or be eaten... That’s an axiom to live by.
an 82-year-old woman was attacked by an Asiatic black bear in the city of Daisen in Akita Prefecture, Japan.
She will probably live another 20 years.
Could be because we humans in the USA will carry a gun when we’re in bear country.
"Bears are hunted much more regularly in the USA than in Japan. Japan has one of the lowest rates of firearms ownership in the world, while the USA has the highest rate of firearms ownership in the world."
