Four bystanders hurt following crash in this evening's qualifying for tonight's Supercars race in Surfers Paradise.

The incident occurred in the first chicane of the 1.85 mile circuit, shortened in 2010 to build a light rail system in Surfers Paradise by removing Turns 2-6 (Surfers Paradise Blvd, View Avenue, and The Esplanade). The cars go left when Turn 2 is a chicane into a shortcut and return to Main Beach Parade.
