Though most “English” names aren’t anglo saxon.

True Anglo saxon names would be like Egbert, Ethelwulf, ethelbard, ethelbert, ethelred (they really liked Ethel, didn’t they? it mean “noble” in anglo saxon), alfred (Aelfraed = “elf wisdom”), then also Edward (”rich protector”), Edgar, Eadwig etc.

The typical “English” names tend to be either Norman French or Jewish in origin - like John, James, Oliver, Henry, etc.
