I was just wondering how Florida went from a blue to state to red? How did the Republicans manage to sneak in reforms that caused the Democrats to lose the state?
Part of the reason I am asking is because Republicans are on an upswing electorally and there is a good chance that some blue states might actually become red because the Democrats are aging out, due to not replacing themselves with babies.
They elected Republicans instead of Democrats.................
Step 1: Written and Computer ballots. We get both, with written record.
Step 2: Must present photo valid ID.
Step 3: Chain of Custody for ballots.
Step 4: Chain of custody and valid signature verification for Absentee Ballots.
Step 5: State investigates any claims of voter fraud.
Basically, Florida has very very much attempted to make elections and people voting, as legitimate as possible.
Read the election law bill that passed a couple of years ago.
FL fixed nothing.
That’s what I mean. How did Republicans get Democrats to go along with making elections honestly more secure?
Then why are votes allowed to be counted after election day?
Why is early voting allowed?
Why is ballot harvesting still legal?
Why is any excuse absenteestill available?
Why is mail-in voting still allowed?
Why are electronic voting machines and tabulators still in use?
The only good news is that Florida doesn’t allow same day registration.
At the moment.
Florida has not secured its elections.
I lived in FL for many years and it was never a blue State. There were pockets of blue, such as Palm Beach County, but IIRC it’s always been Republican.
Real ID and Desantis getting a handle on the Broward and Pinellas county vote counting corruption.
I’m in Hillsborough county and in 2020 vote I watched the poll worker halt ballot collection and take a sampling of completed ballots in the box under the collection point. I was within 5 feet of her as I was waiting to deposit my ballot. She went thru the whole 1+ foot thick stack and looked at every 5th ballot. Count 4, then look at the next one, repeat. Checking results to see how many they had to mix in to get their desired result imo.
The republicans said
“run clean fair elections,
or we will run tim tebow against
every candidate you put up”
dems ran clean elections,
and lost every one..LOL
And it looks like RCV is still banned.
But that leads to another question...
Are RCV-enabled electronic voting machines in use in Florida?
Inquiring minds want to know...
It took Florida 20 years to fix its voting systems.
Some of the major changes were-—
1. Paper ballots that are scanned. So there is always a paper ballot to hand audit if need be.
2. Corrupt County Election Supervisors were fired by the Governors.
3. Pretty good cleanup of Voter Registration Rolls.
After Florida was embarrassed during the 2020 Election fiasco, the above changes and several other minor changes resulted in Florida having the most accurate and fastest election system in the USA.
Meanwhile, other states, including RED states, are still dragging their feet on making changes similar to what Florida did.
So the FReepers living in those states need to start squawking for changes.
Failure to address voting problems as Florida did is a pretty good indication of where the corrupt election systems are.
Just supposition on my part.
#2......Palm Beach and Broward counties had supervisors with ill intent for conservatives, had been manipulating elections for a long time......and always took longer than any other county to provide final vote counts.......sound familiar?
Governor DeSantis kicked those crooked asses off the planet and it all straightened out.
Anyone saying Florida has done nothing to secure elections has their head in the sand.....or in some bodily orifice.
2018 seems to have been a huge turning point. DeSantis narrowly beat Gillum by 32000 votes. Four years later he curb stomped Crist. Trump certainly helped get RDS over the top in 2018. RDS and FLA GOP must have done some serious reforms once they took office in 2018.
You're not remembering correctly.
When I got here in 1995, Lawton Chiles (D) was Governor. The early 2000s both of our senators were dems.
FL was a blue state that slowly turned purple then went completely red after the massive influx of voters fleeing blue s**tholes over the last few years.
Even worse, illegal aliens can get a Real ID driver’s license to vote in Florida.
Any election reform you can name was made possible by New York City running its conservatives out of town.
