Actually, it is a two way street.

Sarcasm depends on the skill or frothiness of the deliverer composing the sarcasm, but also on the recognition that sarcasm is being deployed, and part of that is dependent on the recipient being astute enough to recognize the sarcasm.

When I saw it, I read that wholly as sarcasm. Obviously some people didn’t get it, and I thought subterfuge was gracious enough to acknowledge it in a simple and civil way to someone who didn’t pick up.

And it is easy to miss when you don’t see the facial expressions or rolling of eyes that you won’t see on an Internet forum.

Freeper subterfuge said simply at post #8 “Yes, sorry” which was fine.

Some people aren’t as gracious, they get all snarky and upset at having to explain it to someone who perhaps under different conditions might have got the sarcasm.

And to be fair, not all of us get sarcasm, even obvious sarcasm, all the time. If you are in the wrong state of mind, or haven’t had your covfefe yet, it is easy to miss.

I sometimes wonder if historians will
use free republic as an example of
conservatives in the first half of the
21st century.
Our post may be taken out of context.

I would always use the sarcasm tag.

But I over analyze stuff.
