From the Beginning performed by Greg Lake during 2005 tour. The band includes David Arch on keyboards, Florian Opahle on guitar, Trevor Barry on bass, and Brett Morgan on drums.
His vocals on “Still, You Turn Me On” are pretty great too.
Yep, that one too.
The issue is, after about 1982 or so, we were given MTV, and producers immediately changed the way they produced the music. It was no longer an acoustic form of expression and emotions, it became a VISUAL medium for the masses, and music changed forever.
Kids today have NO IDEA how to LISTEN to music anymore because they all have the Visual portion that pushes out everything else. Ask a typical teenager to name all the instruments they hear in a popular current recording. They can’t do it because many of them have no concept of musical theory, or what an instrument even sounds like. Listen to the way kids nowadays describe new music… “OMG did you SEE the new Cardi B video?” Or wow, did you SEE the new Tucker Wentworth tic toc?????”
The acoustical portion is not even appreciated anymore. Of course so much now a days is so shaped and artificially processed, but that’s another rant……
if you like Christmas tunes... The Band had a great one called...”Christmas must be tonight”.
That was Still You Turn Me On
‘From the Beginning’ is easy to play on the acoustic guitar, so is ‘Still...You Turn Me On.’ Like Pink Floyd’s ‘Wish You Were Here.’ Brilliant songs, fun to play.
The ELP 1974 quadraphonic tour was incredible, stacks of speakers in every corner. The ‘Works I’ tour was notable, with the full orchestra. Yes saved money with their ‘Magnification’ tour (2001). Instead of bringing the orchestra along, they hired local orchestras to play.
RIP Keith Emerson (2014) and Greg Lake (2016). RIP Chris Squire (2015).
“That was Still You Turn Me On”
Oh, right. Thanks.
