"An older male was seen picking up approximately $7,400 in cash that had fallen from the roof of the car of its rightful owner," police said.
Police in Kennebunk, Maine are looking for a man who, they say, pocketed more than $7,000 in cash that was left in a roadway after falling off the roof of a car.
A report of stolen property came in on Oct. 15, the Kennebunk Police Department said on Facebook.
“An older male was seen picking up approximately $7,400 in cash that had fallen from the roof of the car of its rightful owner. The money was from the sale of a vehicle,” the department said.
The man, who as wearing a blue shirt and brown pants, afterwards got into a dark gray Honda CR-V and drove westbound on Fletcher Street at around 6:50 p.m., police said.
The department shared images apparently from a dash cam showing two men, including the man in the blue shirt and brown pants, standing in a road looking at something on the ground, then picking something up and walking away.
The department asked anyone with information to call and Officer David Brown at 207-985-6121.

Lol! To quote singer Robert Plant

I would have probably just flushed the drugs and involved no police.
Must be “A Country for Old Men”...
Me too.
The house was bought as a foreclosure.
The previous occupant was a known drug dealer.

I left a $150 hat on the tonneau cover of my truck. Drove a few blocks in my neighborhood and realized it, retraced my route - no hat. Only possibility is that somebody found it in that 10 minute span.
It's old man Potter who owns the bank. Who let Uncle Billy have another pile of money or the car keys?
When it comes to loose cash, people will quickly zero in on it, like Seagulls swooping down for a French Fry.
I found a brand new Leatherman Wave in the road today, somebody’s weeping. I’d love to return it, I just don’t think that’s feasible.
Great story. Thanks for being a good parent.
Those skills and commitment seem to be lacking for some.
Fifteen or so years ago I found a purse with around 300 bucks in it in a woman’s purse in the lobby of my apartment building. I also found the woman’s ID…and several intimate home made “coupons” promising various “favours” from her to the bearer. I guess some sort of couple’s thing.
I handed it to the cops, they asked me to pick it up months later, unclaimed. I did. Infound the address, drove it to her and delivered. She was grateful and friendly to the point my reward wasn’t cash, but delivery on the promises of those little coupons.
He reported it and had circumstances to match. Then, presumably they found the pic. No need for serial numbers to match, I wouldn’t think.
