The Walt Disney World hotel to which an Illinois woman traveled before she took her own life is notorious for suicides.
The body of Disney superfan Summer Equitz, 31, was found at the Contemporary Resort Hotel at the Florida park Tuesday night.
Equitz, from the Chicago suburb of Naperville, got married last year, honeymooned at Disney World in October and announced she was pregnant two months later. It’s unclear if she delivered the baby.
The iconic hotel where Equitz took her life opened in 1971 and has been the site of several similar tragic incidents in recent years.
On March 22, 2016, a guest jumped to their death from the central A-frame tower of the resort, according to reports at the time.
On a March 2020 afternoon, a woman jumped from the Contemporary Resort in front of horrified guests.
And in July 2023, a man allegedly took his own life at the resort hotel.
Jim Hill of the “Disney Dish” podcast previously talked to The Post about the horrific association between the Contemporary Resort and suicides.
“There’s this weird phenomenon where people who are severely depressed but want to have that one last good happy family memory will go to Walt Disney World,” Hill said in 2022.
“They’ll deliberately book a room at the Contemporary Resort, which is 14 stories tall. And after that happy family time, they will throw themselves off the building,” he said.

Well, that splat sound wouldn't carry that far.
That was a red flag warning to any prospective spouse.
Regardless,
RIP
Strange that there's no mention of the birth of the child. Can't find it in a general news search, either.
Perhaps a miscarriage had been a factor in her suicide.
Same thing happens at casinos. The casinos do not want bad press and the police and media comply.
That is probably the point.
I’ve heard of people signing leases on apartments in tall buildings and then used their new apartment to jump from.
I’d love to know if the baby is ok.
Disney is notorious for hushing up anything that would be bad publicity, usually money works but they aren’t above threats.
Just going to Disney World is enough to crush your soul, if not your wallet. Suicide there, seems redundant.
She should have bought the FAST PASS.
Many years ago a dealer at Luxor said suicides happened there occasionally and they would jump and end up on the casino floor due to the configuration of the pyramid structure.
FWIW in the 90s I used to work next to the Atlanta Marriot Marquis, which has a large atrium interior with 40+ stories. People would jump remarkably often (seemed like every 6 months) for a while.
It was remarkable how little media attention this got. Their media PR must have been very good. I know they had a response team that immediately covered everything with tarps.
It’s a lot harder to hide that now with cameras everywhere.
Of course not, it’s the happiest place on earth. I heard from a cast member years ago that if someone died on property, they would be moved off property before death was confirmed.

Cruise too. A few years ago we were having drinks at a table by the dance floor. One of the men dancing dropped dead in front of us. Crew rushed out of an obscure side door, scooped him up, and the music never stopped. Other people o dancing didn’t even notice.
The death never was mentioned.
At the next port a coroner’s rig was waiting.
Does anyone else wonder what the heck a "Disney Superfan" is, and think it sounds kind of creepy?
The baby is with the father and is fine as far as can be in such a situation.

Especially when you go there on your honeymoon w/o even having kids. Bermuda or Hawaii seem more "normal" for a romantic destination.
Especially being an adult....since we lived fairly close as a kid I probably went there around 4 times back in the 70s when it was still a fun wholesome place.....once I got into my mid teens I had no interest in going back.
The Florida DMV offers a DW vanity license plate......after all we’ve learned about how woke and homo friendly that company is I see those plates on a regular basis and just shake my head.
Thank you. Good to know.
Any “Disney superfan” over the age of 9 is mentally unstable.
