Kiss were kinda of like The Beatles of the 70's.

RIP Ace.

As I understand it, he got kicked out of KISS because he had a really bad drinking problem......I hope that didn’t contribute to his passing.

The Beatles broke up during 1970. They were a 60’s band. I watched the Ed Sullivan show the night they were on. Yeah. I’m an old fart. Ace was some awesome axe man. R.I.P. Too young, like so many others. He can rock in Heaven with the great Jeff Beck.

Comparing KISS to the Beatles is a serious stretch.

Kiss were kinda of like The Beatles of the 70's.

More like the Bangles of the 80's.

I don’t think he meant comparing KISS to the beatles talent wise, I think he was speaking in terms of popularity.

KISS was wildly popular worldwide for decades.

Comparing KISS to the Beatles is a serious stretch.

Not really, IMO, both bands were cultural icons in their respective decades, 60's and 70's.

I watched the Ed Sullivan show the night they were on.

My older sisters tell their Beatles / Ed Sullivan story all the time - Sister #1 was in the shower, washing her hair, Sister #2 was screaming for her to come downstairs immediately. Sister #1 jumped out of the shower, and slipped and fell down the stairs in her rush not to miss it (she was unhurt). They both danced in the living room.

i guess he took a bad fall at his home and suffered a serious head injury with brain bleed. Was basically on a ventilator the last 2 weeks and was brain dead with no improvement and was taken off life support yesterday. Pretty awful end.

agreed...no where close to the Beatles, who wrote some of the greatest songs ever written in any genre.

Ahh man I remember being 14 or so listening to Detroit Rock City. It was raw and good.

They were not all fluff…had some real talent in Destroyer.

The Beatles were musicians pursued by screaming teenage girls.

KISS was a stage show pursued by preteen boys, and some men, who wanted to feel like screaming teenage girls.

Russ Ballard will surely miss him, but he may get a bump in his royalties cheque... Ace covered his tune “New York Groove” on a solo album and it’s likely made Russ a lot of money.

Me and my buddies used to rock out in my folks basement listening to KISS... Awesome band.

That’s how Liam Neeson’s wife passed... They were skiing and she fell down and hit her head... Didn’t think much of it, but ended up in the hospital and died.

After you’re older and you hit your head... It’s best to get it checked out just in case.

Yep, anyone who didn’t experience KISS as a youngster doesn’t really know what they’re talking about.

As a child of the 1970s, I never really understood the whole KISS thing. I thought they were a circus act pretending to be musicians. And pretty bad ones at that.

The main difference based on the observation of a friend who saw the Beatles in person was that their shows all smelled like urine. From all the girls literally peeing themselves with excitement.

KISS was more like the LIGHT version of Black Sabbath or AC/DC. Hard rock POP songs.
