Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) was caught on camera taking a nasty tumble in the hallway of a Senate office building Thursday.

The 83-year-old, who was en route to the Capitol for votes, grabbed at an aide’s arm seconds before he went down.

McConnell, who announced in February that he would not seek another term next year, was quickly helped to his feet by the aide and a guard.

He’s obviously done. And frankly? Probably shouldn’t have run again.

I do think he’s reduced his legacy a bit by sticking around too long.

Hardly matters at this point, but I will say this: It makes me sad his legacy is going to be tarnished by his end-years. Don’t get me wrong - the tarnish is fine, but honestly? His SCOTUS/courts maneuvering is centuries-long masterstroke material.

Keeping a seat open for a whole year, then rushing through a *different* confirmation inside a month? Go ahead and call it unfair - and I won’t pretend to defend it on objective grounds.... but such things have been brass tacks for as long the Republic has existed and *nobody* maneuvered it as well as McConnell.

I know lots of (so-called) conservatives and (newly minted) Republicans dislike him now.

But Mitch? Mitch has been a lion and a good leader. Like I said - he’s at least one term past his expiration date - and he really should just resign.

Nonetheless, it saddens me that he certainly won’t get the plaudits he deserves.

The doddering old FOOL. He needs a wheelchair. His aid/security was holding him up by the arm just prior to the fall. Mitch must have instructed him to not be seen holding him up when they entered a new hallway. Then Mitch almost instantly falls, showing that he can’t walk without assistance.

What is it pride? You want to show everyone that you are still a virile man at 83? You accomplished the exact opposite.

Mitch, just go to “the home” where you belong. I believe they have a nice one waiting for you in China.
