To: Telepathic Intruder

The Orc was a kind of demon creature in Old English tales; that’s probably where Tolkien got it. Maybe the radio astronomers made the name for the ‘circles’ to match up with Orc...it does seem kind of contrived.

Tolkien got the name “orc” from Beowulf, as he was translating it to English. “Orcneas” in old Norse meant “evil spirit”.
