Breaking across social media. Only in Spanish right now.
The President of El Salvador banned all pubic demonstration of Halloween. His justification is the name and culture of "El Salvador" which means, "The Saviour."
He stated that it is contrary to the El Salvadorian people and he will not allow demonstrations or celebrations of dark spirits. Rather, he will designate Halloween to be a celebration of "The Light" in keeping with Christian heritage of El Salvador.

We had a priest from India who didn’t like Halloween celebrating the Devil. We told him we are laughing at the devil, and he has no power over us.
I paraphrased what is breaking on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, among others. It is possible it was AI-generated.
Unlike when I was a kid, halloween has now become an event for adults as much as kids......much like bowling, golf and slow pitch softball, it’s now another excuse to have a party and drink alcohol.
-
And for females to dress in scantily clad costumes.

I guess I’m just getting old.....I’ve been over it for a very long time now.
Just waiting for the dictate to wear underwear on the outside so that it can be seen if they’re washing them regularly.
The point of Halloween is that the next day is All Saints Day - one of the most important holy days of the Catholic Church
Halloween is not a a celebration that American would have created on their own. It originated with the pagan Druid priests before the Roman era. The Catholic Church later tried to Christianize into All Saints Day, but it didn’t last.
LOL. Is that Adam Driver?
Halloween isn’t celebrating the devil.
It is a variation of All Hollows Eve...
A recognition of deceased saints, a very, very old Christian holy day.
But, when celebrated by nonChristians who haven’t got a clue about it, it is nothing and there is no good in it.
Being nothing, the Wiccan fake religion folks and others stole it and tried to link it to the much more recent celebration of Samhain, an Irish harvest festival that occurred annually at various different dates, and had nothing to do with Oct 31. All Saints was celebrated much more widely than Samhain ever was and before anyone even heard of it.
Wow!
Never to old to enjoy women in scantily clad clothing.....
Well, some women
I wouldn't say it didn't last. All Saints Day is still observed by 1.3 billion Catholics around the world. The modern day version of Hallowe'en is more an English-American phenomena, popularized in modern times by those who profit monetarily by it (candy, costumes, decorations, alcohol, etc.). Back when I was a kid in the 1960's it was fairly innocent, but now, as someone here mentioned, it has been turned into an excuse for adults to get drunk and celebrate gore and evil. Most other countries in the world don't celebrate it, and that is why El Salvador is wisely trying to get rid of it. It never was part of their own culture.
It just hasn’t been the same since “body positivity” became a thing.
Well if you see it (correctly, in my opinion) as Catholic folk practices for All Saints that got outlawed in England, driven underground, and then eventually secularized, it’s very easy to see how Americans created the modern version of the holiday.
The exact same thing happened with Christmas, Mardi Gras, Easter, St. Patrick’s Day, and Thanksgiving. America has a funny way of completely taking religion out of religious holidays.
Halloween was completely unknown in Italy until quite recently—even though they always celebrated All Saints Day.
That will make the dentists mad.
Who can blame these other countries, when they only see us exporting the worst of what the holiday has to offer?
But that’s out fault. It’s been our vigil and our holiday for over a thousand years, and we are now taking it back.

In Latin America, the celebrations seem to be conflated with Santa Muerte (Holy Death) and linked with both cartels and pagan practices using Catholic costumes as a disguise (santaria). It isn’t just kids dressing as Cinderella or Dracula saying “Trick or Treat”.
I despise Halloween. It’s become a showcase for death, mayhem and the occult. Halloween is for the rats, Christmas is for us. IMHO.
