A natural compound repairs brain mitochondria and reverses anxiety in rats (Urolithin A)

A study shows that Urolithin A, a natural compound, can abolish high anxiety in rats by repairing mitochondrial function in their brain cells, specifically in the nucleus accumbens.

In recent years, studies have pointed to a link between anxiety and the brain's mitochondria, the cell's energy suppliers which are vital for fueling cells and helping them work correctly.

The study explored the anxiety-reducing effects of Urolithin A, a molecule produced by gut bacteria and known to support mitochondrial health.

The team gave the only clinically validated, highly pure, proprietary Urolithin A supplement, ("Mitopure,") to two rodent models of high anxiety: The first was a group of outbred rats, which showed typical individual differences in anxiety across the population.

The second group of rats were selectively bred for heightened stress reactivity. The researchers also used rats with low anxiety as the control group.

The researchers then mixed Urolithin A into the animals' food at a dose similar to previous studies (25 mg/kg/day).

They then tracked changes over two months.

The results were striking: Urolithin A completely reversed high-anxiety behaviors in the anxious rats ("a robust anxiolytic effect") while leaving normal rats unaffected. At the cellular level, they found Urolithin A repaired disruptions in mitochondrial gene networks, including the restoration of healthy activity in cell pathways that are responsible for producing energy and keeping cells in good shape.

They also found that the molecular machinery involved in mitophagy, which is the process by which cells clear out damaged mitochondria, was corrected by the treatment with Urolithin A.

The diet containing Urolithin A also repaired the structure and function of the rats' neurons, restoring the small connections (their "spines") that are needed for brain circuits to work properly. Levels of a protein called Mitofusin 2, which keeps mitochondria healthy, also returned to normal.

Thank you very much and God bless you.

Urolithin A appears to fundamentally abolish high anxiety, with the tests done in rats.

Urolithin A is commonly available at places like Amazon. This specific one was just on a Prime sale for 40% off. I’m sure it will be again on Black Friday.

There are others now available, but places like ConsumerLab haven’t done a review, yet.

I read that a review of Urolithin A supplements from outside of the US found their potency were as low as 40% of what Mitopure had.

My wife and I take Mitopure when we can get multiple units off such sales.

I have posted prior research on this.

[[including the restoration of healthy activity in cell pathways that are responsible for producing energy and keeping cells in good shape. ]]

I wonder if it would help with Brain fog? I’ve got it pretty bad- not sure from what- affects daily life to the degree that it’s hard to think- hard to concentrate and follow conversations- it’s miserable-

I had most of the adverse reactions to the clot shot listed on the government reports (including some not listed), almost including the death column. Many were cured or at least subdued by multiple protocols.

Extreme anxiety attacks was one of many adverse reactions I got from my clot shot. I thought I was going to die from that also. Had it a couple years and it kept getting worse.

I was cured from that one by healing from God directly. I was prayed over at a Seder meal our church put on on Good Friday, had a “religeous experience”, had some minor problems healed and on Easter Sunday I was healed from the anxiety attacks. Never had one since and that was two years ago.

God has been with me through my healing all these years since the clot shot. He’s still with me as I continue to heal.

That is good to hear. I, too, pray to God and I have found things have gotten better. I had acute tinnitus and that has gotten better. As with you, I continue to heal.
