After it came to light that Jay Jones, the Democratic nominee for Virginia’s attorney general, had fantasized about killing a political opponent and his children, some were surprised that other Democrats didn’t condemn him.
No one should have been surprised. Because what Jones said is a widely shared belief among Democrats these days.
According to National Review, which broke the explosive Jones story, he told a colleague that “the only way public policy changes is when policymakers feel pain themselves, like the pain that parents feel when they watch their children die from gun violence.” He was referring to a specific Republican state lawmaker and his family.
The reaction among fellow Democrats? Crickets.
If you think that’s scary, consider this:
Over the weekend, the Skeptic Research Center released results of a poll of 3,000 adults asking whether they agreed or disagreed with the statement: “violence is often necessary to create social change.” (Note the similarity between the question and what Jones said.)
What did the poll find? Nearly half of young, liberal, well-educated adults – in other words, the mainstream of the Democratic party these days – condone political violence.
Of “very liberal” respondents, for example, 44% agreed that “violence is often necessary to create social change.” Among Gen Z liberals, the number rose to 49%.
We’re talking millions upon millions of Democrats who’ve been radicalized to believe that burning buildings, terrorizing neighbors, and killing opponents are reasonable acts.
This adds still more evidence to the pile about the violent tendencies of “peace and love” leftists who now control the Democratic party – something we have been tracking at I&I for years. (See, for example, “Will Left’s Violent Tendencies Lead To U.S. Breakup Or Dictatorship?” March 16, 2021, or “Left-Wing Rage: Don’t Pretend It Doesn’t Exist,” Aug. 18, 2023.)
Just a couple of weeks ago, researchers found that in the first six months of this year, left-wing terrorist attacks were already outpacing those from the far right – before Charlie Kirk’s assassination, the spate of anti-ICE violence, and other targeted political attacks by leftists.
What’s more, there’s evidence that the left’s attraction to violence isn’t just a result of their fears about Donald Trump or their concern about the future of democracy, but their warped moral compass.
One research paper found that “conservatives have more favorable opinions of liberals than liberals have of conservatives, and thus conservatives extend more empathy to liberals in times of need.”
Translated: leftists have a strong (but wholly misguided) sense of moral superiority over conservatives, which can easily be used to justify violence.
Incredibly, the response from many on the establishment right has been to ignore the frightening rise in violent rhetoric and violent actions coming from the left, while adding fuel to the rhetorical fire with their own apocalyptic language about anything and everything President Trump does.
It’s time for the public (and especially these weak-kneed “conservatives”) to wake up and realize where the real threat to civilized society is coming from. And it’s not from the current occupant of the White House. Because once Trump is gone, leftists will simply direct their hatred and violence to the next prominent conservative.
Lefties won’t like the results when they have created an actual war and the other side responds.
Thanks! That was indeed a missing and key graphic!
Wow. Those numbers are way too high, across the board.
Destruction of property is acceptable if you are protesting something unjust? What does that even mean?
You don’t like the war in Ukraine, so you are justified in torching Teslas?
Society changes all the time. You don’t like people smoking marijuana, so it is ok to assassinate insurance executives?
Their funding comes from far left loonies like Soros who promote and incite violence. They are “indoctrinated” in college, where professors and foreign students persuade them that socialism is good and capitalism is bad and every other kind of negative influence possible. In the democratic party the insane are running the asylum.
Well, I don’t exactly like insurance executives but killing them is a little harsh I think. Maybe just smacking them around a bit? I’d never torch a Tesla. That’s ridiculous. Stealing it and selling it makes more sense, right? Just kidding.
I believe humans have a propensity for violence, especially young males. Every baby is a wild animal which has to be trained by their parents and society to act in accordance with morals and ethics.
Modern colleges and univesitys teach Nihilism. Nothing matters. It is a recipe for disaster.
Interesting thought. Since Tesla’s are basically software, I wonder if the owner reports it stolen if it can be located electronically or if they can simply tell the charging stations to not charge it and/or report its location.
My guess is no, because that would violate the thief’s privacy or some other lunatic reason.
The far Left wants to burn, loot, and murder average citizens of less trendy skin colors in order to redistribute wealth into their own pockets.
The far Right wants to water the Tree of Liberty.
Appears to me that the Demoncrats ... oops ... Democrats have determine since they cannot even steal elections any more they will assume the throne by insurrection.
Young people across the board tilt their heads and look quizzically at someone who says: The ends don’t justify the means.
By contrast, and troublingly, they will tend to vibe with people who say: By any means necessary.
FWIW, the cohort among self-professed conservatives whose hearts are warmed at the prospect of ideologically-directed violence are probably largely young and recently converted from one or another form of liberalism/progressivism, even socialism/Marxism/communism.
Hopefully, with time, and enough time-in-rank as conservatives, their thirst for wanton, mindless violence will naturally wane.
“...water the Tree of Liberty.”
Counterrevolutionary.
“Fight plans change when you get punched in the face”. Paraphrased from Mike Tyson.
People are talking out of their ass here. As belligerent as we’d like to sound, we have had it soft and sweet here. No one except a bands of crazies really want to mix it up.
Democrats are really bad about trying to get their brain-dead’s off video games, but there have been a lot of “the tree of Liberty must be watered by the blood of tyrants” talk here as well, quite possibly by fat old people on their patios.
Lately I’ve been going to the gun range 1-2 times weekly. I’m pretty good with my Glock 43X, but if hoards of maniacs start larping around with AR-15s it won’t do me a lot of good.
At the range they allow the operation of automatic weapons. It scares the hell out of me. I feel like diving under my booth. I guess that makes me a coward.
The educated dems must be financing, inciting and organizing the dems, because the rank and file that I've seen think, speak, reason and look like third grade dropouts, NOT educated professionals!
Maybe they're just soros paid riot scum.
“the only way public policy changes is when policymakers feel pain themselves, like the pain that parents feel when they watch their children die from gun violence.”
I don’t find that particularly outrageous.
It’s stated in the abstract, and he says nothing about him wanting to do it.
So much for their tolerance.
“”Lefties won’t like the results when they have created an actual war and the other side responds.””
Some of them will love the results... just as their globalist masters, our enemy without, will love it. It will give them a perfect opportunity to swoop in and fulfill their agenda while America is at its weakest point via a civil war.
The problem is, nobody lets the air out of these wild animals when they go on the rampage. It’s socially acceptable to just let them “act out their frustrations.” I think its a matter of location. You pull that crap in my county, you will have a shortened lifespan.
You can turn that car off with your cell phone. Beyond that, You can locate it the same way.
