What we know: Publix will allow open carry of guns inside Florida stores, according to officials.
Publix's decision comes after a court ruling struck down the state's long-standing ban on open carry.
A spokesperson with Publix says they follow all federal, state and local laws.
In a statement to FOX 35, Publix leaders said, "Treating customers with dignity and respect is a founding belief at Publix. In any instance where a customer creates a threatening, erratic or dangerous shopping experience — whether they are openly carrying a firearm or not — we will engage local law enforcement to protect our customers and associates."
What do other retailers say about open carry?
Dig deeper: Several other major retailers, including Walmart and Sam's Club, are prohibiting open carry. Walmart posted on its website, asking for customers to refrain from openly carrying guns unless they are authorized law enforcement officials.

The ruling does not extend to certain prohibited places, including courthouses, schools, polling sites and government facilities. Private businesses and property owners also retain the right to ban firearms on their premises. See a list of all prohibited locations and requirements here.
You must still meet eligibility requirements to carry a firearm, such as being 21 years of age or older and not being prohibited from possessing a firearm due to a prior conviction.
Exactly. I’ve been carrying WELL before I obtained my CC license many many years ago. Not only a gun but other weapons as well. My personal safety trumps ANY store policy. I have the right to defend myself and how I choose to do that, should the need arise, is nobody’s business but mine. Stores and establishments can post signs all they want but I’m not going to disarm to make them feel better with their virtue signaling.
I’m a cops daughter and have been at the ranges since age 6.
Good on you!
I’m old enough to remember seeing a small woman open carry a large pistol ... in a Target.
In my state it’s legal, no permit required.
I conceal carry. Open carry IMHO is like walking around with your fly open, wedding tackle swinging to and fro, and fro and to.
Anyway Target is in a new location now and hires cross dressers. They would s*** to see open carry. Do not want Target.
If you print and they ask you to leave, cop’s daughter, you can be charged with criminal trespass if you want to argue, just saying.
You go to Bessemer? Willingly? Total bad-azz!!
I prefer the element of surprise. Why tell them in advance, that you’re capable of taking them out?
I would never argue with anyone, silly dude! I’m also not going to strap my side arm in full view of anyone in public. I conceal...totally. I’ve been well trained from a very young age on what to do AS WELL AS what not to do regarding firearms. Apparently you’re missing the point…
You might wanna turn your man card in, buddy…
I live in Georgia, and as a small female, there is only one situation in which I open carry: when I’m hiking on less-populated trails. I want to make it abundantly clear that I’m not the woman to F with. (And, on those hikes, I carry a full-size 45; I don’t have enough body length to conceal that even if I wanted to.)
To your gay Tinder site? Keep dreaming Village People.
Leftist troll alert!
Doesn’t take much to trigger you people, does it? Number one: I’m a chick. Number two: Tinder? Really? Is this the best you can do?
They must not be paying you guys to post as much as they used to… your trolling is bottom of the barrel and quite....silly
YWNBAW
Tell that to my children whom I carried joyfully for nine months each

“I’m also not going to strap my side arm in full view of anyone in public.”
Doesn’t know what ‘printing’ means. Say some more stuff.
I give you good practical and legal advice, free, and you ...
yeah, you must be a woman.
I’ll concede that point. Maybe a couple Pamprin, and go lie down?
Seriously, don’t carry if you are this emotional. Again, just saying.
Yes, I work in Bessemer, actually near the Wal Mart and Bessemer Civic center. Interestingly, that is one of the cleanest, best stocked ones I have ever been in. Bessemer has some pretty decent local gun stores too.
I’ve been in the woods and encountered coyotes, black bear and feral hogs.
Full frame SIG P220 with an extended mag in a Blackhawk OWB holster was right there with me.
It’s just smart.
