A Texas mother was shot dead outside a PetSmart after confronting a young woman who failed to say 'thank you' when she held the door open for her.

Cecilia Simpson, 41, was out shopping with her daughter in Dallas’s Oak Cliff neighborhood on Tuesday when an argument over a woman’s lack of manners exploded into gunfire - leaving the mother dead from multiple bullet wounds.

The suspect, 22-year-old Keona Zachyua Hampton, told police she was 'just trying to get Simpson away from her,' according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox 5 News.

She was taken into custody at Dallas County Jail on a murder charge, with bond still pending a judge’s decision.

If you rearrange the letters, you get “Each A Zany Oak”.

Someone was disrespected. I have heard people like this (people who would get into a spat/shooting over a door not held, cutting in line, or just the wrong look) as “emotionally incontinent”.

No impulse control.

No stranger owes me a “thank-you” if I make a gesture of politeness. If I found somebody’s wallet and a way to return it and its contents intact, I wouldn’t expect a reward but maybe a little something for the effort like a smile and a handshake. If they’re rude and unappreciative then it’s best to just stay above the fray and carry on with business as usual.

Nose piercings? The VP at my bank has a tongue piercing. I can’t avoid looking at this incongrous decoration on a financial exective dealing with the public, and wonder about the motivation.

When you hold the door for someone who doesn’t thank you, take comfort in knowing you did it because it’s courteous. Not because you expect something in return. Your kindness is its own reward.

“ I absolutely hate going out to eat and the server has facial piercings.”
Or those 4”+ fame fingernails. Disgusting, no hygiene possible!

I hate to say it, but you really have to have situational awareness. If that thing didn't say thank you to me, I would not confront her about it.

Mental illness, dysfunctional political and tribal leadership and algorhytmic “truth” has so threaded its way into society that there may be no way of coming back from the violence cascading around us.

Do we only have the shooter’s side of the story?

You are correct.

Nobody owes you a “thank you”. That said, I am an advocate of manners.

If someone is right behind me and I hold the door, I don’t expect any kind of acknowlegement.

But if I stop and hold it for any period of time, and the person walks right by me without even saying anything I just say “You’re welcome” and go about my business.

If someone opens the door for me, I make eye contact, smile, and say in a friendly voice “Thank you!”

Funny, I used to ride mass transit occasionally, and I on a crowded train I would offer my seat to an older person or a woman, and the looks I got...people were bugged out.

Well. I guess I can’t blame them. And I don’t go on mass transit anymore. I see it as dangerous.

SSRIs are destroying the minds of millions of people. A ‘side effect’ of them? Making
people suicidal and homicidal.

That's exactly what I've been saying.

Black racism is actually off the charts these days. It’s even in the churches. The death of Charlie Kirk has really flushed out the racism even in the church.

Dennis Prager has said white racism died generations ago. He’s right. Now....it’s black racism thanks to Obama, CNN, MSNBC, media, etc.

Values people, not morals people. They will always be in conflict with someone. Thank 120 years of Hollywood’s values > morals propaganda.

It’s a seriously deranged subculture. We’ve all seen particularly young black women acting loud, entitled, and angry in public places. It’s hard to imagine anyone except another person of the same profile being foolish enough to take one on

Holding a door open for someone and expecting a thank you is a losing proposition these days. I couldn’t even count the number of times I’ve approached a cashier and said Hello! or Thanks! when leaving a store with absolutely no response. And I’m not the least bit tempted to shoot anyone.

Incidentally, my wife took exception with a cashier who just grunted and sneered at her when she tried to engage her at a minority owned grocery store, so she went to the manager and told him about it. He just shrugged. We never went back. I had a similar experience in a Home Depot.

Well, the article does quote her but it’s conflicting with what the witness said. The witness basically said the shooter wouldn’t leave them alone.
