Are you willing to swear that there is only one Monterey? It appears that that is the case, but assuming it is so is a bit presumptive.
I’m sure there are a few towns called Monterey (There is a tiny one in Indiana.) But usually it’s the one in California. People confuse it with city in Mexico called Monterrey.

How do bats, that are insectivores, get rabies? What is the transmission mechanism? Are they bitten by rabid moths?
bats are mammals, mammals contract rabies, bats usually contract rabies when a rabid bat bites another bat and thereby perpetuates the disease ... as to how the first bat way back in the hazy past got rabies the first time, you might as well ask how the first dog, wolf, skunk, or cat got rabies in the first place as well ... once rabies gets in a population it stays ...
