Chicago’s Democrat Mayor Brandon Johnson suggested on Tuesday that the Chicago Police should arrest ICE agents and other federal officers who he claims are breaking his new executive order aimed at hampering immigration enforcement.
On Monday, Johnson signed a dubious executive order creating “ICE-Free Zones” to ban federal agents from using city-owned properties as staging areas for immigration enforcement.
Johnson’s proclamation comes as President Donald Trump suggested that the anti-ICE actions by Chicago’s leaders are akin to an insurrection against the federal government.
Now, the mayor is claiming that violations of his orders are a “crime” and those who break those rules “should be charged.”
“It’s a crime. Here’s the thing, anyone who commits a crime should be charged,” Johnson said on Tuesday, according to the Chicago Tribune. “I mean, isn’t that the basic rule of what they ostensibly refer to as ‘law and order?'”
Despite Johnson’s bellicosity, Chicago police Supt. Larry Snelling was less willing to support arresting federal officers and noted that he can’t really expect CPD officers to arrest federal law enforcement “because someone deems what they are doing is illegal.”
Snelling had also told the press that the CPD has no duty to interfere in ICE activities, and said, “We do not interfere with the duties and responsibilities of federal agents. We don’t have to agree with it. It doesn’t matter.”
Cook County State’s Attorney Eileen O’Neill Burke’s office also demurred from taking a stance on the mayor’s threats.
Despite the lack of direct support for his confrontational proclamations, Johnson insisted that he intends to prosecute federal officers.
“We’re going to see people in court,” Johnson exclaimed. “As far as other authority that allows for us to be able to enforce this ordinance, we’re exploring.”

The various City States have declared themselves to be Sanctuaries.
They can declare being turds , means nothing other than they are domestic enemies and should have been treated as such from the get go .
To call them city states is to give them validation.
Words
Matter.
Grady Judd... Florida’s favorite sheriff!!! He’s funny at his press conference...

Martial law is the only solution.
This nitwit self-described communist is such a putrid waste. Seeing him in a federal prison will be such a laugh.
I hope Chicago voters a getting an education. Electing your typical lefty loser to any position of authority is a losing game.
In the meantime...more popcorn!!!
Martial law will be ineffective in the long run absent blood in the streets.
He’s going to get a federal officer (or more) killed.
Keep digging! We can still see your head! Dope.
Affirmative did.
Martial law will be ineffective
/
Wrong.
Martial law

Rendition and tribunals will be very effective.
Every sanctuary mayor governor and coconspirator district judge in gitmo will up this is the bud immediately .
Push your narrative gaslight elsewhere.
Blood ?
are you advocating violence ?
that is what the left is pushing for.
If you are a conservative, blood in streets is exactly what we are against.
These RAT a-holes lied when they took the oath, and should be criminally charged for violations of federal statutes.
The Democratic Party has a big problem - itself.
I have no problem arresting Federales. But on what basis here? They weren’t already breaking the law, and the mayor has no power to create new laws!
The North is seceding!
Pritzker makes a very unconvincing warlord.
Brandon even less so.
Let's create a law and then find out later if it's legal and whether we actually have the authority to enforce it ...
He's looking for a replay of the New York rioters versus The Army of the Potomac ...
