US industry chose China (bulk), Malaysia, Vietnam, Mexico (probably the best of the lot) for blue collar jobs. That’s where manufacturing, the jobs which created the middle class a long time ago left to. I think that really started in the late 70s already, despite China playing against us in Vietnam. But who cares about that, it’s just money that matters.
I think, the H1B visa phenomena targeting white collar jobs at least originally is a bit more recent, instead of off-shoring, they are “in- shoring,” bringing the cheap labor from abroad in.
Patriotism is something that is waived in peoples faces when they need volunteers to go fight some place, idiots like me believed in that when young. But I believe our government is LITERALLY for sale to the highest bidder for the most part and that includes international corporations and interests. Occasionally you’ll get a Trump or a Perot, but these are the exception and not the norm.
“ idiots like me believed in that when young”
You are not alone.
It’s ok H1Bs will man our armed forces, right?
