In Jane Austin's last novel Persuasion, the protagonist Anne Elliot is in love with Capt. Wentworth, but is convinced he is no longer available, so she thinks of marrying her first cousin "Mr. Elliot." Also, Edvard Grieg married his first cousin, and they were happily together for I think about 20 years before he died. They had one miscarriage, no born children.
