“I care as much about this as I do about Hegseth’s stance on the Latin Mass.”

This.

The man is out of his depth when it comes to matters of effective deterrence and its relationship to diplomacy. He makes a common mistake that well-known people do, which is to assume that his expertise or authority in one area is transferable. It mostly isn’t, and certainly isn’t here.

Random thoughts: If this guy is a Cubs fan, he hates the Cardinals. An American pope is Shirley a sign of impending rapture. The new Popemobile ... a white Ram Charger truck with a hemi? He’s from Naperville. Another dud. Oh well.

Well, Papa Leo, remember Papa Innocent III who told his Crusader to “kill them all, God will know his own.”

Leo is proving to be a loser after having some positive words written after his election to the Papacy!
He is, to me, a fence rider who puts in his 2 cents when it is not appropriate.

His opinion about immigration or War Department business is NOT WELCOMED!
SHUT UP AND POPE, (what ever that is)THANK YOU!!!

On the Laura Ingraham Fox News show yesterday, Raymond Arroyo gave this response to what the pope said here.   (I posted this on another thread, but I thought some folks in this thread might have missed it, and would want to see it too, so I'll post it again.)

(By the way, both Raymond Arroyo and Laura Ingraham are Catholic.)

"Fox's Raymond Arroyo attacks the pope for pointing out the contradiction in claiming to be pro-life while supporting the death penalty"    (Go to link, and click to watch the brief video clip.)

popes are expected to have wisdom. i would think that would include not indulging in off-the-cuff remarks on subects he is not fully briefed on especially when matters of church doctrine are involved. PopeManual p 1

1) The thickest part of the wall around the Vatican is 40 feet.

2) There is a strict, no exceptions ban on entering as an undocumented resident of any kind at the Vatican.

3) A person who illegally enters a restricted area of Vatican City faces severe penalties, including fines, imprisonment, and a ban on future entry.
In late 2024 and early 2025, the Vatican significantly increased the penalties for illegal entry into its non-public areas.

4) Violators face prison terms of one to four years.
Entry ban: Anyone convicted of illegal entry can be banned from Vatican territory for up to 15 years.
Increased penalties: Fines and sentences can be made even harsher for offenses involving violence, threats, deception, firearms, or corrosive substances. Breaching an existing entry ban is also subject to further imprisonment.

5) For hundreds of years the Catholic Church enforced the death penalty.

6) Giovanni Battista Bugatti, who served from 1796 to 1865 and performed 516 executions before being succeeded by his assistant. He was followed by Vincenzo Balducci.
There is a museum of exhibits of the tools used to execute prisoners where people today can view them. At the times of executions, hundreds would gather to watch.

Beatings, hangings and finally beheadings with the newly invented guillotine were the most used methods of killing.

My other post here details the firm anti-immigrant policy of the Vatican. For all of us, however, the weepy hankies to the tearful eyes for the poor immigrants is the public policy. No country in the whole world allows its borders to be overrun. China, Russia, North Korea. You don’t get in.

I waited until the first Pop Leo putdown of us for immigration. Now it is gloves off.

Too bad because I am the sweetest, most lovable non-Catholic semi-expert on Catholicism here.

Or....I was.

RE: What do you think war is Leo?

Sic vis pacem, para bellum.

Good one.
////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
“Kill them all, let God sort them out” is from the Latin “Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius,” which translates to “Kill them. For the Lord knows who are His”.

— Abbot Arnaud Amalric during the Albigensian Crusade in 1209, supposedly said before the massacre at Béziers when an aide said “There may be Catholics among them. Should we still start the battle?”

“21 July 1209. Under the command of Arnaud Amalric, they started to besiege the city, calling on the Catholics within to come out, and demanding that the Cathars surrender. Neither group did as commanded. The city fell the following day when an abortive sortie was pursued back through the open gates.

The entire population was slaughtered and the city burned to the ground.”

“The Vatican has dozens of whole rooms filled with gold, rubies, silver, and precious jewels, priceless treasures.”

The Vatican does not have rooms filled with gold, rubies, silver and pearls. I’ve been there. There is a wonderful museum with priceless treasures open to the public.

Leo should promote the Latin liturgy but he is too afraid to do so. He is not a good role model for young religious. Sad.
