Elon Musk had a message for his social-media followers on Wednesday morning: "Cancel Netflix for the health of your kids."
The Tesla CEO, who made the remarks in response to criticism of an animated Netflix show featuring a teenage protagonist who is trans, indicated earlier on Tuesday that he had canceled his subscription to the streaming service.
It's the latest example of Musk wading into the culture wars and urging his 226 million followers to take action against a company with which he disagrees.
Netflix's stock was down around 2% on Wednesday amid a volatile market.
Musk's denouncement of Netflix comes as some accounts on X, including the popular @LibsofTikTok, have recently called for a boycott of the streaming platform while criticizing Netflix's "Dead End: Paranormal Park" and its creator, Hamish Steele.
Musk has been reposting and supporting accounts that have accused Netflix of promoting trans ideology to children on the streaming platform. Some of the accounts shared screenshots that appear to show Steele criticizing Charlie Kirk after his death. (Business Insider was unable to verify if Steele made the remarks, as his X profile has been set to private.)

Too much publicity is given to those with unusual sex characteristics, both mental and physical. More specifically, the publicity is given to the loudmouths among them and reactions by those that approve and don’t approve.

I don’t follow Musk or anyone because I don’t do social media. I keep Netflix because there’s a lot more than just the pansy ass shows to watch. No matter what streaming networks you subscribe to, there’s always going to be something that offends someone. I enjoy good TV programming and ignore the BS.
For some reason we get Netflix for free but I’m canceling anyway.
I don’t hae Netflix because I have very little interest in 98% of movies.
My neighbor has DVDs of every movie ever made. If I want to see one, I can borrow from him.
I did watch a couple of movies on AMZ Prime. I think $3 for a new movie, Best was “Flow”. about animals caught in a huge flood. Adorable cartoon movie for animal lovers

Really no need for that - there's more television available for free than you could watch in multiple lifetimes.
After I finish watching Blacklist, I was planning on cancelling. One and a half seasons left.
Been downloading and watching British TV programs for at least 20 years, that aren't available on U.S. streaming networks. Fortunately, Britain still produces the best historical documentaries, historical docu-dramas, and mysteries.
