On October 3rd they will be able to get a “decent” picture of it as it approaches the sun. And decent is a relative term in this case. It’s like 30 pixels per KM or something like that. It will still be pretty fuzzy.
But it should be enough to read “Federation of Planets” or “Klingon Space Navy.”
I think it will show a big rock.
Of course…if it turns and smiles that will be something altogether different.

Totally different object—an asteroid—in close Earth orbit—that’s going to possibly hit the moon.
This comet is far away from the Earth or the moon and won’t come very close.

However, if it is really from outside it must traverse the Oort cloud — where hundreds of little bits of crappola hang out. Its size could cause them to lose their present orbit and come on in.
Next decade gonna be interesting. Musk better hurry up.
