In recognizing that there _are_ slaves (thousands of years ago), the Bible is not saying “wow this is wonderful” its saying “treat them correctly”
Charlie uses the word “regulate”, as in ideas based on humane and proper treatment of the slaves that are being held. The important thing is that there is a separation in the difference between slavery in Roman times which may have only lasted for a period of time vs. chattel slavery which was not only indefinite and generational. Since the Bible does not endorse even the temporary ancient slavery there is no way it endorses the generational.

I wrote that book but pulled it off the market because I found so much more in both interpretive and translation errors, particularly in Genesis, that needed correction and development I chose to do research instead of hawking a book. Yet that passage I cited is such an important discovery I left it for public absorption.
