An off-duty NYPD officer shot a man who allegedly tried to rob her and her husband in Penn Station on Wednesday evening, according to sources.
The cop was on her way home with her husband, a police officer who was also off-duty at the time, in the busy Midtown commuter hub around 7 p.m., when a 32-year-old male suspect allegedly attempted to rob the pair, sources said.
She discharged a firearm and struck the suspect near Long Island Rail Road track 18, sources added.
The alleged attacker is in stable condition. Christopher Sadowski
The robbery suspect was transported to a local hospital in stable condition, according to the NYPD.
“Due to a police investigation, please avoid the vicinity of West 34th Street between 8th and 7th Avenues,” the NYPD wrote on X.
“Expect delays and heavy traffic in the surrounding area.”
There was a heavy police presence and caution tape wrapped around the platform of LIRR tracks 18 and 19 in the aftermath of the shooting, photos showed.
Commuter John Leahy was near tracks 20 and 21 when he heard screaming “like drunk young men having an altercation.”
“There was a train scheduled to go to Long Beach and they suddenly canceled that saying there was police activity at the station,” Leahy recalled to The Post.
“That was still rush hour. I can’t imagine someone trying to pull a robbery during rush hour.”
The incident remains under investigation.

She needs more range time
I was mugged at that exact location back in 1989.
FAFO.
My kinda woman! I passed this example on to Mrs. Tick. 🤠

It took three people to write this article???
I suspect she did it right and shot him in the pelvis to avoid a through-and-through that would travel horizontally on a crowded train platform.
Some of the photos show a lot of blood on the floor and side of the escalator as well as EMT gloves strewn about.
While the New York City transit system might as well be Mozambique, you can't pull the Mozambique Drill in a crowded train station.
Excellent response - let’s keep it going!
My guess would be; one who did the interviews, one who translated their notes, and one who gathered the rest of the details.

I’m guessing it was one seasoned male reporter and 2 dei females.....gotta keep it inclusive yo!
I wanted to write just 2 words:
“Range time,”
but if this was a crowded platform (probable as in “rush hour”), she did quite well in hitting only the perp (who I presume was the one doing the screaming).
Kudos.
But, as others have aptly cited, what if this wasn’t a pair of off-duty cops?
It’s Ok: Mamdamni will make it all better soon for the criminals. /s
“It took three people to write this article???”
Sure, just look at the title of the article:
“OFF-DUTY NYPD COP shoots man”
“to rob HER”
“and HER HUSBAND”
They all got the vapors just having to write such right-wing trash.
Oddly enough, the attempted mugging might not have occurred.
I suspect that they being off-duty cops gave them a false sense of security that the predator picked up on. If they were unarmed commuters, they would likely be more alert, which the predator would also pick up on and try to find more viable targets.
There are studies where psychologists would independently show imprisoned muggers, robbers, rapists, etc, videos of various people walking in public, and ask the criminals to point out which people they would target. They criminals tended to all pick out the same targets, even just from video, based on presentation, awareness, body language, etc.
I don’t get it.
ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!
They don’t like cops, they don’t like women and they don’t like heterosexual couples.
100%.
On top of all the random cop shootings. I’d try to blend in as well in such an environment.
I’ve been told far too often that “I look like a cop” and I know full well - with intent - that it’s not just ‘haircut’ etc.
My point, however - aside from my other cheekiness - was re arming the public (which will never happen in nyc).
FAFO
These NYC robbers will rob 24/7. Time of day is not a consideration. Rush hour just means more potential victims as nobody will stop a robbery, not after Daniel Penny.
