India warns of ‘likely humanitarian consequences’ after US H-1B visa fee hike

Hours after the US administration put a prohibitive USD 100,000 (about Rs 88 lakh) as fee for H-1B visa applications, India said on Saturday that this measure is likely to have “humanitarian consequences by way of the disruption caused for families” and the Indian government expressed hoped that these disruptions can be “addressed suitably by the US authorities”.

The Ministry of External Affairs’ official spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “The Government has seen reports related to the proposed restrictions on the US H-1B visa program. The full implications of the measure are being studied by all concerned, including by Indian industry, which has already put out an initial analysis clarifying some perceptions related to the H-1B program.”

He said that the industry in both India and the US has a “stake in innovation and creativity” and can be expected to “consult on the best path forward”.

“Skilled talent mobility and exchanges have contributed enormously to technology development, innovation, economic growth, competitiveness and wealth creation in the United States and India,” the MEA spokesperson said, adding that “policy makers will therefore assess recent steps taking into account mutual benefits, which include strong people-to-people ties between the two countries.”

“This measure is likely to have humanitarian consequences by way of the disruption caused for families. Government hopes that these disruptions can be addressed suitably by the US authorities,” it said.

Let’s put the USA’s “humanitarian consequences” up against India’s “humanitarian consequences.”

We get the jobs back for Americans that Indians have stolen for decades. Our people get employed, theirs get unemployed. Are we supposed to be more concerned about THEM than about our own Americans?

How’s that for “humanitarian consequences”? Sounds like a fair trade to me.

The article does not mention the disruption to American families over the last 20 years.

Arrogant pieces of shit come here from their crap hole and act superior. Rude, filthy, lazy, stupid and arrogant. Now they cry because their scam is up. If they are that valuable then companies will think $100k a year more for their bargain basement labor will be worth it.

I would prefer the government put a 100,000 dollar fee on every immigrant from the middle east, central/south America, and Africa...... at least India is not just sending us their unemployable jetsam.

Non-citizens here on an H1b should pay into Social
Security as an additional tax, but be unable to collect.
<><>all the H1B types work here for 10 years
<><>that enables them to collect SS at the highest payout
<><>since they pocket a $150k+ per year salary for those 10 years
<><>they then go back to their country and work
<><>(SS does not know they are working and collecting)

Many companies already have skirted this.

They open up their own branch in India. No one has to come over in the first place.

No, you need to be the one to take care of your own people.

“The article does not mention the disruption to American families over the last 20 years.”

The middle class IT worker who was making $110k/yr and supporting a family of 4. On the job for 12 years.

Suddenly, one Friday morning the entire IT shop gets called to the auditorium and given the news.

A year later he still has not found a comparable job, he’s defaulted on his mortgage, lost a car, wife and kids moved in with Grandma.

And he can’t even get an acknowledgement on the 304 resume submissions since.

I’ve seen it dozens of times. Dozens.

So India is like Canada, China and the entirety of Europe, among many other countries. They all live off American generosity while treating us like $hit. Maybe the best thing we can do for them is force them to grow up and move out of our basement. I learned a long time ago that givers have to set limits because takers won’t.

X is melting down. The lack of Indians will be America’s downfall. No more technical advancement will be possible.
