ORTH LIBERTY, Iowa (KCRG/Gray News) - A woman in Iowa faces multiple charges after asking gas station customers to blow into her interlock device.
Officers with the North Liberty Police Department were dispatched on July 4 to a Kwik Star, where there was a report of a woman asking people to blow into her interlock device for her.
Police found 34-year-old Kristin State sitting in the driver’s seat of a running vehicle when they arrived at the scene. According to a criminal complaint, State was the only one in the car.
Officers made contact with State and noticed a strong smell of alcohol. Police also said that State had watery and bloodshot eyes, and slurred and delayed speech.
State told them that she hadn’t been drinking.
The officers asked State to perform some standardized field sobriety tests. According to the criminal complaint, she failed two and showed signs of impairment during the ones she completed.
Testing revealed State’s blood alcohol content to be .351.
State is charged with operating while under the influence, driving while license is denied or revoked, and tampering or circumventing with an ignition interlock device.
State has had three prior operating while under the influence convictions within the past 12 years.

Hmm. This give me an idea. Synthetic ‘blowing’ machines to blow clean synthetic breath to unlock interlocks for drunks. How else are they suppose to get home?

She could have blown into her gas tank and saved some money on fuel.

My ex blew about the same and the cops were amazed she could walk a straight line and talk coherently. Course the next day she was hospitalized 9 days detoxing. Her drinking is the reason she's my ex now.

Well, that sucks!
She was either a, “professional drinker” or probably just drinking before testing, while sitting in the car. Those aren’t totally accurate if you’ve been drinking in the last ten minutes, and you will blow high. My husband and his buddies had one and it came with a disclaimer saying that one should wait a minimum of ten minutes from your last drink before testing.
Side note: In high school, we lost a classmate to a BAC of 0.32, causing alcohol poisoning. He was 18.
A drunk who maintains a .351 and is still vertical won’t ever be sober enough to fill a balloon with non tainted air.
Liver damage can manifest itself in skin condition.
