Pia Wilson, from Dallas, Texas, lost out on adding $10,000 to her total on the Tuesday, September 16, episode. She didn’t have any money until the Triple Toss Ups, where she solved two of them, giving her a total of $4,000.
When it came time for the final puzzle, the elementary special education teacher almost caught up to her second-place opponent. The puzzle was in the category “What Time Is It?” Wilson spun $700, making the consonants $1,700 on the board.
She guessed “T” first, in which there were four, and she gained $6,800. After the six consonants were guessed, the “Only Vowels” bell sounded. She had $10,200 in her bank at this point. When the buzzer went off, Ryan Seacrest said, “Vowels only at this point. Just guessing vowels.”
Wilson was about to guess “A,” but her three second time went off, shifting the turn to her opponent, who guessed “At The Last Minute.” He earned the money from the round because he solved the puzzle. Wilson looked a bit mad, but Seacrest congratulated her for getting money at the end.

Seacrest is no Pat Sajak.
Nobody’s perfect. That’s why they put pencils on erasers!
In the past, gameshows would invite a contestant back to play if it is discovered the show violated its own rules or erred against them during play in some way.
I hope she gets another opportunity to play. But it can’t be cheap to make a return trip.
Hope this is the right link.
Seacrest is unwatchable in this role. They should hire someone less boyish.
We haven’t watched it since Seacrest took over. Can’t stand him.
Usually "big" game shows pay for a round trip flight and a one night hotel stay. If the contestant wants to bring a family member or friend, the contestant pays for that.
I agree they should invite her back.
I don’t watch network TV in any form.
Just give her the cash and a trip and call it a day, companies give the stuff away for commercial consideration so it’s no skin off their noses.
I had a friend who won Wheel of Fortune back in the old days when the winner had to buy overpriced junk with their winnings. He had to use up all his money so he bought a ceramic cheetah. We kept it in the fraternity house as a mascot. It was priced at $1,000 back in the 1980s. Definitely a ripoff.
We see this in athletic games all the time. We see it in politics and count votes at times.
The counting stops and the winner is declared before the absentee votes, or the late reporting precinct is counted... even in a close election.
Prediction: AI is more error prone than humans. Things will get worse before they get better.
That was because NBC’s Lin Bolen wanted the target audience to be female. She wanted the show to be about shopping. The King Brothers who ran the syndicated version wanted to test with Coca-Cola (which owned Wheel at the time) an all-cash version in 1987.
This is a by-the-book situation. When the beeps happen, the host must make the warning “vowels only”. Once the warning is given, the player is allowed to make a guess. For example, on Jeopardy!, the rule is Ken must finish reading the answer, followed by a flash of the perimeter light, before players can ring in. On Family Feud, the player can ring in any time when Steve is reading the question — and then must finish reading the question to the opponent if the No. 1 answer is not given, or if so, then finish the question for the other players.
When Sajak was sick, it was painful watching Vanna. Seacrest is a little better but not much. Ken Jennings is a good replacement for Alex IMO.
Didn’t everyone get the cheetah?
I remember the days of, “remaining on a gift certificate”.
Took him a while to get comfortable.
No, they shouldnt invite her back. They should pay her her winnings and then some to compensate for additional money she couldve won had she continued on with the game
Giving her a chance to cone back to play again instead of awarding her her money is a slap in the face.
‘Yeah, you got cheated. But feel free to return to try again.”
I’ve been there.
“Yeah, you got cheated. But feel free to return to try again.”
I’ve been there.”
Personally, I avoid signing any contract where the other party is rewarded for breaking it.
