The EU is a bigger threat to Lithuania than Russia is.
Of what use is a trench when warfare is now conducted by drones?
lol. Drones wool fly over. Tanks will drive around. Good luck

They need to keep their population scared. I was In Lithuania years back, a flat wooded terrain. If Ivan wanted to invade, they would have done so years ago, in about one day.
Tanks? Has anyone seen the massive losses Russia has taken. Estimated now they are done 9,000 tanks and are using T-55s.

Like California's high-speed rail project, the contractors will get paid, and paid and paid for busy work. "The Baltic Defense Line" sounds so good, it's almost like marketing.
One finds in the Baltic nations, earlier this year:
Baltic states' electricity prices surge 60-fold after withdrawal from Russian power grid Caliber, 25 February 2025So that "Baltic Defense Line" seems like just the thing to divert Baltic nations' citizens from noticing their monthly energy bills....Electricity prices skyrocket in Estonia EuroNews, 12 February 2025
Electricity price hikes due to lull in renewable generation – Lithuanian regulator LRT, Lithuania, 11 February 2025
The main thing is that the American troops and forces that President Trump has stationed in those Baltic countries have as many advantages as they can get if they have to face our enemy.
A new Maginot Line?
The Baltics are composed of aging populations with no natural resources. Germany will not roll through them to Russia any time soon. So Russia will invade the Baltics because why?
“The EU is a bigger threat to Lithuania than Russia is.”
Correct - my understanding is that the people of Lithuania believe that a marriage should only be between a man and a woman.
To be fair, the Baltic States suffered under the thumb of the old Soviet Union. So they have good reason to be wary of Russia today.
It’s not the same as France or the UK whining about Russia.
As a side comment, the Baltic States suffered worse under Nazi occupation. I suppose they just want to be left alone now.
“Baltic states’ electricity prices surge 60-fold after withdrawal from Russian power grid Caliber, 25 February 2025”
And I remember their governments CELEBRATING that. It was also pointed out by Alexander that the REAL REASON for disconnecting from cheap Russian power was Kaliningrad, and the desire to shut down power to that exclave (which was required if they wanted Russian power). But, unfortunately for the Left, Russia saw that coming and quickly built power plants there (no Sierra club in Russia, sorry Zeepers)...and so all that happened was that the Leftists impoverished more of their own people.
>< A new Maginot Line? <
The original Maginot Line was actually very effective. It repulsed the few frontal attacks the Germans made on it, and only surrendered when France surrendered.
The only problem is that the Line did not extend to the English Channel. So the Germans just went around it.
The Maginot line ended at Luxembourg and didn’t protect from invasion via Ardennes and Belgium. It was easily outflanked. Thee were plans to extend it to the Channel. Any line has to be complete to be effective.
The Russians have a declining population, weak economy, depleted military and have their hands full with Ukraine. Overextending war to the Baltics would be a disaster for them.
The world will be a better place when Putin is gone.

They gained independence as Russia lost power in WWI.
They had “non-aggression” pacts with Russia before WWII.
In WWII, they were re-occupied by the Soviet Union.
It wasn’t until the Soviet Union fell apart that they regained independence.

“The new neocon tale states that”
There are no “neocons” in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, nor in Denmark, Finland or the the other Baltic States.
How is the EU a bigger threat to Lithuania than is Russia, and just where are the Lithianians (former serfs of the Soviet Union) who agree with you???
Drones are good for attacks and surveillance, while tanks are still used for moving the lines of occupation.
Some of the warfare is now conducted by drones but tanks are still used for moving the lines of occupation. It is estimated Russia has lost 4,000 tanks so far in its invasion.
