Trump's Air Force One flight to London 'almost hit another jet' in plane crash near miss

Donald Trump's Air Force One flight to London got dangerously close to another plane while travelling in the skies of New York, it has been reported. The US President's Air Force One and Spirit Flight 1300, an Airbus A321 flying from Fort Lauderdale to Boston, were approaching Long Island when an air traffic controller observed their altitudes were close.

He also noticed that their flight paths were converging and attempted to warn the pilots of the Spirit flight to adjust their course. The encounter was first posted first by the @JonNYC account on the Bluesky media app. The unverified audio was shared by @thenewarea51 on X.

"Pay attention, Spirit 1300, turn 20 degrees right,” the controller said after the airline crew ignored his initial message. "Spirit 1300, turn 20 degrees RIGHT NOW."

Raising his voice again, the controller commanded: "Spirit Wings 1300 turn 20 degrees RIGHT. IMMEDIATELY."

Finally the Spirit pilots acknowledged the routing change.

"Spirit 1300, traffic's off your left wing by 6 miles, or 8 miles. 747. I'm sure you can see who it is,” the controller said, referring to the blue Air Force One aircraft. "I’ll keep an eye out for him, he's white and blue."

And the New York controller gave one final warning to the Spirit crew: "Pay attention! Get off the iPad!"

Yes, which ATC routed the Spirit flight to set up the crash? I might be spit ballin here, but seems to me that when AF1 is in the air all other aircraft except for military escorts should be routed away. Sounds like there is going to be an opening for another ATC position real soon.

I calculate a little over a minute to traverse 11 miles at that speed. Still better to take action before it gets too close.

Spirit Air.

The pilots were probably brawling over some malt liquor and chicken wings in the back with the passengers.

Sounds like the plot from a Nikita episode.

Yes, AI gave wrong answer but then corrected it.
AI Overview

An Airbus can cover 11 miles in approximately 10 to 11 seconds, as most jet airliners cruise at about 450 knots (approximately 518 mph or 740 ft/sec).
Here's how to calculate it:
Find the speed in feet per second:
A typical cruise speed is 450 knots.
1 knot is about 1.68781 feet per second.
So, 450 knots * 1.68781 ft/sec/knot ≈ 759.51 ft/sec.
Convert the distance to feet:
11 miles * 5280 feet/mile = 58,080 feet.
Calculate the time:
Time = Distance / Speed.
Time = 58,080 feet / 759.51 ft/sec ≈ 76.47 seconds.
Note: The speed used in the initial result was 740 ft/sec, which would yield approximately 11 miles in about 11 seconds. Using the 450 knot figure, it's closer to 76 seconds.
Therefore, at a typical cruising speed, an Airbus would take around 76 seconds to travel 11 miles.

Yes, they want you to believe AF1 was at fault by the headline.

UK media as FOS and sometimes even worse than our own.

when AF1 is in flight there is air space rule sand a NOTAM also, the spirit pilots were stupid, and will get a chewing out over this
