Security officers have “neutralized” a drone over government buildings in central Warsaw, and two Belarusian citizens have been detained, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on Monday amid heightened regional tensions following recent airspace violations.
“A moment ago, the Government Security Service neutralized a drone operating over government buildings (Parkowa Street) and Belweder,” Tusk posted on the X platform. The Belweder Palace is one of the Polish president’s official residences.
“Two citizens of Belarus have been arrested,” Tusk added. “Police are investigating.”

The incident comes with Poland on alert after a wave of Russian drones entered Polish airspace during an unprecedented large-scale incursion last Wednesday.
Those violations saw Western jets downing Russian targets for the first time during the conflict in Ukraine and stoked fresh fears in a region that has been on edge since Moscow unleashed its war in 2022.
Tusk warned at the time that the violations were “the closest we have been to open conflict since World War II.”
Parkowa Street in the Polish capital, the site of Wednesday’s incident, lies in a district that houses government buildings, the Belweder Palace and foreign embassies. The Russian embassy is also nearby.
The area is designated a no-fly zone for drones unless operators secure a permit, and violations are punishable by up to five years in prison, according to Warsaw City Hall's official website.

Drones were deliberately sent into Poland with extra fuel tanks to reach Poland, and none were explosive.
Poland's Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski confirmed that while the drones that entered Poland last week were capable of carrying ammunition, they were not loaded with explosives. “Interestingly, they were all duds, which suggests to me that Russia tried to test us without starting a war,” Sikorski told the Guardian in Kyiv.
Sikorski rejected the suggestion by Donald Trump that “it could have been a mistake”, saying too many drones were involved. “You can believe that one or two veer off target, but 19 mistakes in one night, over seven hours, sorry, I don’t believe it,” he said.

That's proof, all right!
Sounds about as effective as “gun free zones” in the USA.
Seriously, it is past time for Poland and NATO to announce that any more drone incursions into Polish Air Space (or any other NATO member) by Russia will be met with military attacks on the military location nearest from which the drones were fired within Russia.
It's a good start. More than what you have to offer.
“...drones being off course was likely a product of electronic warfare....”
Russia, should have systems to monitor their drones and when they loose contact with their controller, immediately land the drones.
Most commercial drones have a similar feature. To not have similar features on Russian drones.....invites war crimes to be committed and excused by Russia.....but then again, Russian strategy in Ukraine seems to be based on war crimes.
No, It's not a good start.
But the words of the Poles, on site, today, is what is offered in the OP.
Yeah, it’s always more important to listen to propaganda than actually judging people on their actions. Poland is just another EU and NATO member nation that’s sucked on the American taxpayer’s tit for their own protection for decades, and are now intent on perpetuating this proxy war with Russia.
Yeah, actions like invasions.
You mean like the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics asking Russia in early 2022 to help with the attacks on their settlements by Ukraine's military?
What would Russia have to gain by droning Poland?
What has the response from Washington been? Nothing. There, obviously, is your answer.
i think he does not know the meaning of the word ‘dud’.
LOL, unbelievable gullibility. Wow
Yes, you are. Add naivety to that too.
LOL, "Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics" that immediately and almost 100% voted to join Russia, but I'm naive. Amazing
Yeah, at least they had the opportunity to vote, unlike the people of Ukraine. Every 90 days Zelensky signs a new extension to the martial law in Ukraine, just to make sure elections can't be held.
All Ukrainian people, in every region, voted overwhelmingly for independence.
1991 Ukrainian independence referendum
Yup, like Russians have the opportunity to "vote" in presidential elections, always resulting in a Putin victory. Its a pre-determined election, but its okay, because people were allowed to "vote". Okay
So, what would you call the Presidential election in Russia, held in March 2024 reported on by NPR?
Oh boy, I can cut and paste a map to FR.
“What has the response from Washington been? Nothing. There, obviously, is your answer.”
That’s right, and we’re not going to war with Russia because of this so you can give up that fantasy.
