A Long Island newspaper was forced to apologize after publishing a graphic Charlie Kirk cartoon slammed as 'unconscionable' and 'despicable'.
Newsday removed the offending political illustration from all its platforms and acknowledged an 'error in judgment' after intense backlash from readers.
The cartoon depicted an empty blood-splattered chair under a tent labeled 'Charlie Kirk.' An arrow points upwards toward the seat with the caption 'Turning Point USA,' the non-profit organization founded in 2012 by Kirk.
The banner above the tent reads 'prove me wrong', which was Kirk's slogan for his college campus political debate events.
The illustration was created by Pulitzer finalist illustrator Chip Bok, who has not responded to the Daily Mail's request for comment.
The drawing sparked outrage in some of the few deep red Trump counties in New York, triggering Republican chair members throughout Nassau and Suffolk County to speak out about the 'shameful' cartoon.
Suffolk County Republican Chairman Jesse Garcia expressed his disdain toward the cartoon in a statement, writing Long Island's only daily paper 'crossed a line.'
'By publishing a vile cartoon about the political assassination of Charlie Kirk, the paper has mocked tragedy, stoked division, and poured gasoline on the flames of political violence.

Cartoonists are always leftist.

All according to Democrat Plan...
With very, very few exceptions
Suffolk county long Guyland is deep red country?! Whoda thunk it! /s
It is very hard for newspapers to make a go of it these days. I’ll bet they lose a boatload of subscribers.
Chip Bok is usually leaning right
Local printed newspapers are a dead business.
The business model contracted terminal cancer in the 1960s, as progressivism and bloated federal government advanced, and more politics become national vs. local
They were then given death shot with the rise of the internet.
The corpses of local newspapers were bought by the likes of George Soros, as deep-state propaganda rags for the declining, elderly part of the population that still read them.
Its sad - beside our one, failing, woke, poor-journalist standard local newspaper, no one else has stepped into the void of reporting on local and state politics.
The soulless ass who allowed this to go to print should be fired.
I must be dumb, because I saw the cartoon in question. If the artist was indeed leftist, I don’t believe he was very good at it, because I took the cartoon to be true - Kirk’s death has, in fact, been a “turning point” for millions across the country and around the world. We’re seeing the evidence day after day. The world had its eyes opened as to the fact that this isn’t left vs. right. It’s good vs. evil. Maybe I’m just a moron. Could all be true.
“ By publishing a vile cartoon about the political assassination of Charlie Kirk, the paper has mocked tragedy, stoked division, and poured gasoline on the flames of political violence.”
“poured gasoline on the flames of political violence.”
What does the republican leader mean here?
Republican politicians in New York and the suburbs are so wormlike repulsive and vile they ensure that the government there stays leftist
There’s no political violence that this guy inflamed
Where is the looting, backlash and signs of violence from the right? Mr. Garcia?
He’s the one fomenting hatred toward the right.
Is he aware that Long Islanders talk about seceding from the state because of its leftist government? If he doesn’t he is not paying attention to his republican constirtuents
He probably pays way more attention to his leftist constituents like most lukewarm disgusting rino colleagues
Blech
I am not sure what point they are making. Gloating that they sure proved him wrong? Trying to evoke sadness at the image of the empty chair with the blood that proves him right? It's like, why even do this? What good could possibly come of it?
I don’t get it. They should apologize for being obtuse.
That's exactly the way I interpreted it. Guess we can be stupid together.
That should help circulation. /s
Bok is all over the map and backhandedly friendly to the right.
It’s to show Kirk has ascended to heaven.
It’s the editor that should be fired. He/She/It approved the page.
Chuck Schultz, Johnny Hartt, Berkeley Breathed, and Scott Adams seem to have been the exceptions.
