The key word is conservative "movement" versus one's conservative org. Encouraging one to walk in the light thy have is to be encouraged, as such will lead to more light for the earnest honest seeker of Divine Truth (which the homosexual movement opposes,. and Mormonism perverts) and to The Light (Christ) if continued. However, I disagree with welcoming any supporters of homosexual relations, likewise pro-choice advocates, and other supporters of fundamental immorality, as well as cultists (whose loyalty is to their own org.) to be a active worker member of one's Christian conservative org, which weakens it.
